Sunny Jailia today, di Profumi di Pantelleria. it is about 90F and one million percent humidity today, as Florida fights back against those who would iron their hair. The Jailia holds up well.

Thanks to a gift from a darling friend, I am wearing Ormonde Jayne Orris Noir today in the Parfum d'Or format. This is a creme parfum flecked with golden sparkles that leaves a subtle shimmer on skin. Such a fun, luxe way to wear scent!

Notes include davana, pink pepper, coriander, bergamot, iris, sambac, pimento berries, bay, incense, myrrh, patchouli, Chinese cedar, gaiac wood

    Take care, everyone!

RHM, I'll be thinking about you. I HATE the process of moving, but I LOVE the feeling of starting fresh that a move always brings me. Keep hydrated!

As for my SOTD ... now for something COMPLETELY different (relative, that is, to what I've been wearing all spring -- primarily florals/floral orientals):

    Muscs Koublai Khan

I'm feeling a little devilish today.

I am in Fragrance B from June Blind Sniff, dubbed "cheap and synthetic" by one of the sniffers. One of the most expensive fragrances I have ever owned, bought in a manufacturer's bottle it comes to a little over $6 per ml (or, $600 for 100ml or $300 for 50ml, except it does not come in bottles like that).

    Heeee!

Having caught up with clients, I'm easing into a much-desired lull. Today's ambitions: shower, pick up routine prescrips for me and some enzymatic toothpaste for the dog, watch "So You Think You Can Dance." I hope I'm not exceeding official lull restrictions with that list ... oh, wait, I was also planning a drive-thru banking deposit. Oh, and husband suggests I pick up more paving bricks since "I'm going that way." So much for lulling.

Right now I'm sampling a moist toilette of Yves Rocher So Elixir. I'd call it Iris Noir Oriental since it reminds me of another of YR's frags with an obvious patchouli presence. Is okay, but happy to wear something else post-shower.

Hang in there, kids. As Red Green says, "I'm pulling for ya."

SotE is Chanel Cuir de Russie (les exclusifs EdT).

Was testing Serge Lutens' Sarrasins today also. Until last week, I'd only sniffed it from the wax sample thingys, but I have a proper sample now. I'm still completely mystified by peoples' descriptions of this as 'indolic' or 'leathery'. I get pretty much a straight up, beautifully wearable jasmine, that softens to a clean, white floral after a couple of hours. I've heard mention of civet in the base too, but I don't get that either. I wonder if it's possible they've tweaked the formula? More likely, my nose is too unsophisticated to detect such nuances. At any rate, I'd be very happy with a jar of this in my wardrobe.

When I first tried Sarrasins, I didn't smell the leather, either. What really brought out the leather for me was, oddly, smelling Sarrasins after smelling Boxeuses. Sheldrake's approach to the pronounced leather in Boxeuses helped me recognize it in Sarrasins. Now I smell the leather first in Sarrasins and *then* the jasmine.

But my nose could be totally whacked though, too. I'm always willing to consider *that* possibility.

FrouFrou - Hope you are feeling better!

I've actually had some time today and yesterday to follow the exciting Blind Sniff. Fun! I think I actually figured out B! Whoa! I've never guessed correctly in past sniffs - or - I miss them altogether.

I was a bit surprised to see it at Luckyscent (only "surprised" because I spend so much time browsing there and had never seen it). That is, if I've correctly guessed what "it" is.... :P

I almost forgot to post my SOTD:

    Carnal Flower

Now, perhaps I'm nuts, but the lovely lingering floral base seems very similar to Odalisque. The only difference is a fading hint of tuberose in CF (it's almost gone now). I compared notes, and the only common elements in the heart and base are jasmine and musk, respectively. Hm.

    Gucci EdP scented my day.

Before bed I'm trying out Armani Code for women. I bought a previously tested bottle for $5 at a store that was going out of business a while ago and have yet to wear it. Does nothing for me so far, but I'll wait a little and reserve judgement. Teardrop piqued my interest with her "less in-your-face Alien" comment. I like the opening of Alien decidedly better.

I am also comparing Code to TBS Neroli Jasmin as suggested in cedriceccentric's review. I think you could layer them together or use the body products from TBS, but there is a complexity lacking in Neroli Jasmin which is present in Code, and more of a freshness to Neroli Jasmin, at least at this point in the development.

    Good night to all.
