Default Some fantastic scents from UK houses ? Suggestions ?

I know a lot of great fragrances come from paris and France in general, But I have a few from the UK like Murdock's Black Tea and Flores Santal. I really like the way these work on my skin. Are there any other virtually unknown houses in the UK that make great fragrances? Any suggestions ?

I don't have a lot from Italy either....Most come from Paris...The fragrance capital of the world, I guess...

Not an unknown UK house by any account, but I have come to like Clive Christian, since my eldest son gifted me my very first one.

Other UK companies that come to mind are Penhaligons, Czech & Speake and Ormonde Jayne, Truefitt and Hill, Taylor Old Bond, Geo F Trumper.

Bella Bellisima which is exclusive to Selfridges has some fantastic scents. I own bottles of White Leather and Noble Incense and both are amazing.

No offense intended but personally I've almost never found anything fantastic from UK perfume brands... a really few scents are perhaps just really nice (a couple by Czech & Speake like Cuba and Oxford & Cambridge, some made by shaving/grooming brands like Eucris by Geo Trumper or Jermyn St. by Taylors of Old Bond Street, or a couple by more proper "perfume houses" like L'air de Rien by Miller Harris or Mahon Leather by Floris). Most of the rest is highly negligible to me.
    My current top five:

    Dior - Leather Oud
    Carven - Pour Homme
    Jacques Bogart - Furyo (vintage)
Yves Saint Laurent - Jazz Prestige
    Azzaro - Pour Homme (vintage)

Interesting....I find them to be exceptional in SOME cases...Like I said, maybe from a uniqueness or complex standpoint, they may not have a lot to offer... But for simplistic and rather linear stuff that smells fantastic.....I really find some of them to be quite good...

Another rather budget suggestion in addition to the great houses mentioned so far includes the rather obscure brand focusing more on higher end grooming products named Scottish Fine Soaps or at least their EDT. While it may not sound like the ideal choice for a good quality fragrance and the price of their EDT is also very affordable, it their only EDT smells like a "barbershop style", rather antiseptic but not unpleasant crossover between Eau Sauvage EDT, Givenchy Gentleman and JPG Le Male (minus the extreme sweetness of this one). In fact, like a clever, not plagiaristic combination between the citrus of Eau Sauvage, the leather and animalic/musky notes of Gentleman and the less sweet spiciness, marginal woodiness but also rich warmth of Le Male- all blended at unbelievably smooth, balanced and well-considered proportion.

Not sure if I'm wrong but I think Hugh Parsons is a made-up British brand which in reality is actually Italian (made & distributed by Promoparf Italy). Their "Traditional" blue scent is pretty good anyway!

Also I forgot to mention House of Matriarch, crazy prices but some real gems.

Hey Ken....Listen, I don't really care if its a popular house...I love the unknown gems that you can get out there....That way, you are the ONLY one probably wearing that particular scents....I love the "popular" houses too but if I can find a hidden gem from a house that is virtually unheard of, then so be it...Price is not an issue either...If it's cheap or pricey....Doesn't really matter to me...

From my experience - limited choices for "perfumes" per se imho from UK other than a few solid ones already mentioned like Eucris, Sartorial etc - I would rather search for Italian houses (after French)...

I find the entire toiletry range better from UK - with shave creams, soaps, after shaves, moisturizer etc from many houses - but again, not for pure cologne's / perfumes...

I currently have the Classic male grooming signature scent edt - it's more like an EDC strength, but hey, I got it for $10, so no real complains...It's a simple barbershop type cologne - nothing substantial, but these work as comfort scents after a hot day...

I am definitely a francophile when it comes to perfumes. It seems to me the Englishmen have spent too much energy trying to play the Victorian shtick. Occasionally, that works well, as in Penhaligon's Violetta (violets for victorian dandies).

That said, I second Ormonde Jayne-an English brand though composed by a German (Geza Schoen) (I prefer the feminines to the masculines, though, like Tiare, Tolu, or Ormonde woman). And some Heeley (and englishman, trained and working in France I believe).

In cheaper territory, I think Lush is (or at least was) based in the UK, and I like their stuff.

Try L as well, I'll bet you'd like it. It could work in your warmer climate as well, I feel like. I've tested it a couple of times, and went ahead with with a split, but would've gotten a FB if that hadn't happened to have been available. I guess that's my way of saying I found it FB worthy.

Fans of Rive Gauche pH should checkout Truefitt & Hill's Grafton. Its RG without the patchouli and with an addition of a bright incense note. Great stuff.

While truly sorry that Scottish Fine Soaps does not ship internationally, recommending yet another rather affordable British fragrance you might like or, at least, I personally consider worth testing.

Even though the brand of Jaguar fragrances might be affected, along with a rather inconsistent, unbalanced marketing, perhaps too desperately trying to capitalize on the luxury automotive brand with the same name without necessarily achieving the same combination of luxury and technical accomplishment in terms of fragrances, still convinced that Jaguar for Men original-http://www.basenotes.net/ID26120855.html- is a very good fragrance, especially in its vintage version.

Smelling much more expensive than its rather affordable price, it combines a citrus and even citrus-floral (perhaps tangerine/lime flower/Neroli floral associations, nothing overly sweet, powdery and/or oily) with a sightly, darker, richer, deeper, more mysterious and complex powerhouse-ish (yet without the heady, overpowering or too blatantly animalic notes) partly woody, partly chypre-fougere drydown.

All in all, British style elegance easily adaptable for contemporary daytime, even office-wear, without becoming too muted, generic, watered-down and/or crowd-pleasing, thus retaining an understated, distinctive individuality.

Every house has its share of duds IMO, be they English, French, Martian, etc... Where they originate from is really immaterial to me. You can have a French-based house helmed by an English perfumer for instance.

    That said I enjoy:

Ormond Jayne Man, Woman, Four Corners of the Earth collection.
    Clive Christian X, 1872, V, C, No.1
Penhaligon's Endymion, Sartorial, Bayolea, Duro, LP No.9, etc.
Miller Harris Feuilles de Tabac, Terre d'Iris, Tangerine Vert
Roja Dove (most that I've tried)
