    Default Plastic Doll?

I am wondering about the etiology of the ubiquitous Plastic Doll note?

I see this mentioned over and over again in far flung reviews for fragrances as diverse as Miss Dior, Fracas, Havana Vanilla, Confetto by Profumum, Sexy Angelic by Honore, Nuda by Nasomatto, Heaven by Gap, Samsara by Guerlain and on and on.

Now, don't get me wrong, I have owned plastic dolls, but a precise scent of them eludes me.

To put it simply, what makes something smell like a plastic doll?

If you mean baby dolls, it's tonka, I think. It's a bit like vanilla.

Yes I know what you mean re. Plastic doll. To me , it's like light almond, heliotrope and vanilla.

    Yes, that's it.

You know what's strange? The fact that, as kids, we would SMELL dolls. I mean clearly we did, because we remember their odor. But it's just weird to realize that I actually SNIFFED some kid's sister's Barbie. I can almost remember it - it would be the last thing I would do if I was looking at something as a kid. Pick it up, turn it around and look at it, then maybe shake it, and - last thing - sniff it.

The smell of plastic toys from childhood like the smell of Playdough is comforting and familiar on a subconscious level for this ' ex - child' and many other ' boys and girls' all grown up now!
Another great ' plastic doll ' scent is humble Stila Creme Bouquet. I believe I'll always try and have some of this .

I think they mean a plastic smell in general. Gucci Rush smells very plasticky to me!

    Ditto.

Another scent that brings to my mind of Plastic Doll is Bvlgari Black. But more like a plastic doll from your childhood left in a trunk for 20 years together with vanilla sticks. In this case the effect is due to the infamous rubber note and vanilla.

Indeed, I also remember a vanillic, candied, almost syrupy smell, but I can hardly associate it to any fragrance (maybe some marginal suggestions in Scuplture Homme by Nikos, but apart from that, no clue)

My little sister loved money and she would always feel it then sniff it.

So it's more like a plastic doll accord then. I was thinking that it was like a negative thing...
