Default New Fragrance: Ted Lapidus Black Soul Imperial

    From fragrantica.com:

Ted Lapidus presented fragrance for men Black Soul in 2009 and enriched it with a woody-spicy composition, placed in a very elegant and masculine black flacon embellished with gold metal details.

Its composition included seductive spicy notes of saffron, cinnamon and cardamom, cooled with mint and orange blossom. The fragrance offers luminous bergamot, warm tolu balm and fine resins, along with woody aromas of Guaiac wood and cedar. The whole composition is embraced with a sensual musky veil.

The new fragrance Ted Lapidus Black Soul Imperial, has been presented in 2011 as an intense, masculine edition to take us for an olfactive journey. On top of luminous citruses that can be clearly felt in top notes of the composition, you will be surprised by intoxicating scent of baked coffee. A heart of the composition features accentuated notes of mint and spices, whereas a base is defined as very masculine and intense, composed of stable woody accords.

    NOTES:
citruses, baked coffee, mint, spices, woody notes

Ted Lapidus Black Soul Imperial can be purchased in a falcon shaped like its antecedent from 2009, colored in black with gold color details. Available as 50 and 100 ml EDT. Year: 2011.

Which came off my bottle straight away. Luckily completely, so it's still a fairly elegant and masculine black flacon.

the original was pretty darn good. Not quite sure how 'baked' coffee & mint would work with this one.

Mint and coffee make this a must test....but pleeeeease let it be less "buzzy" than the OG Black Soul.

Original, to me, is sweet, bubblegum, trashy, youngish, fun, suitable for leisure wear, not so much for work, I'd say. Sadly not very menacing at all.

Love for the original here as well, and Ted Lapidus is yet to let me down. Imperial is already in my sights as of this moment.

I wonder if baked coffee means roasted coffee and it just got mixed up in translation? I never heard of "baked" coffee.....

I really like the original Black Soul and now it can be found on-line a reasonable prices.

I don't like them... there is something in their composition i feel nauseating... happened with Bogart's Arabian Nights too.

Just got a sample of this and put it on... sweet oriental, and now as it's settled (i had it on for 1 hour now) i might even like this one. Right off the bottle it smelled too floral/feminine of my taste, now better (middle notes) - Any more thoughts of this one, anyone?

It smells similar to the original Black Soul. I am liking it very much, so far (I've just put it on). You can smell the coffee very clearly, although it is not overly sweet. The mint is also very present. It is a very solid scent, let's see how it develops.

I agree. The MINT and the coffee adds a certain twist to the original Black Soul. Nothing like it.

I am doing a wrist to wrist comparison and would go as far as saying that I prefer this one to the original... as Imperial dries down, it gets more woody, while the original gets more bubblegummy and more... soap-like?

Souds very interesting. How the longevity and sillage compared to the original?

I'll have to give it a full wear to tell you that, but so far it's going strong (about 3 hours on). I have to say though, that during its evolution, it is going through some phases I would call "unpleasant", like decaying wood. I liked the top notes much better. The coffee notes seem to be gone now.
The original seems a bit more balanced throughout, although a bit more conventional than Imperial.

    I received my bottle today.
LOVED from the begining to end.
Opens with a strong velvety citrus, them dries down with a lot of coffee beans and the base continues with spiced woods, in a kinda arabian way (obvious not lutenesque, but very good)

Project very well and last for a very long time. Highly recommended.

If only it was produced by a house like Hermes or Guerlain it would have got half the attention it deserves.
