I like it. But I am surprised at all of the dislikes.
everytime I shop for scents i got filled up with its samples along with boss bottled, this heavy marketing makes me suspicious..anyway I can't stand this frag!
I like it. But I am surprised at all of the dislikes.
I like it after 4 hours. The initial blast is very strong but I love it when it tapers off. I wear it cautiously.

I think le male could have been so great along with others like aqua di gio a*men but it seems like everyone has to wear this everywhere . Even kids wear this stuff. Its not that I dislike it its just confuses me that I smell it practacly all the the time. Plus there is a note in the dry down that I think just teases you not sure what it is but its like come on already give me a haapy ending.
Big fan of Eau Duelle lately. Someone once said it smells like old books with a hint of vanilla, and that nails it on the head.
Current Top Five:
1. Creed Green Irish Tweed
2. Tom Ford Neroli Portofino
3. Hermes Concentre d'Orange Verte
4. Bond No. 9 New Haarlem
5. Creed Original Vetiver
i used to have the edt, i just bought the after shave lotion and I like it more than the edt. I can wear it without feeling conspicuous. I would recommend it.
TL Pour Lui is a magnificent vanilla based fragrance.
Definitely YES. It's one of the boldest fragrances I know although there are lots and lots of imitations.
I don't like it at all. My favorite vanilla based scent is Baldessarini Strictly Private.
"Le parfum est la musique du corps"
Favorite vanilla, maybe Felanilla.
I like it. It is hyped way too much though.
I like it because it's unique and noticeable but I hate it for the way everyone over-applies it. It should be used in very subtle amounts: one spray is enough.
I used to find this scent pleasant, but now I'm rather indifferent to it. I find it cloying at times, especially if someone has abused the sprayer.
Le Male is too synthetic for me.
I like it, but dont love it. If we are sticking to designer frags there are many others I prefer. Just from "like Le Male but not Le Male" I prefer 212 Sexy Men. From non niche vanillas in general, the 3 I have (Eau des Baux, Caron PuH, Joop Thrill Man) are far better.
If you include niche then SDV is unsurpassed for me.
I don't really mind it, but I wouldn't wear it (which is unfortunate as I've bought a ton of it due to the clever/gimmicky packaging. The flick knife bottle being a favourite.)
I find it has an accord that makes it smell like Pledge (a spray polish. Not sure if you get this stateside.) It has also been ripped of by Axe/Lynx for one of their deodorants, so you smell it off of everyone.
Le Male smells AMAZING on me
On other people it stinks though lol
I like it. The best vanilla imo is Guerlain Shalimar.
I don't care for it. I would wear Shalimar instead of it.
I'm not OLD...I'm VINTAGE!
Women tend to LOVE it!
Never tried it and I never will.... can't stand the bottle.
If I Could Only Have a Dozen:
1. Creed Green Irish Tweed
2. Creed Silver Mountain Water
3. Guerlain Vetiver
4. Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa
5. Creed Bois Du Portugal
6. Chanel Pour Monsieur Concentree
7. Creed Tabarome Millesime
8. Guerlain Heritage
9. Penhaligon's Sartorial
10. Creed Royal Oud
11. Chanel Egoiste
12. Creed EROLFA
I like the scent but I don't like people wearing it coz its overpowering and in the wrong environment, it can get offensive. Recently in an office environment whenever a particular guy who wears it enter the room we will know that the man whore had arrived. Even the women don't wear perfume that strong. Got nothing against him but weird how the scent gave me a perceived bad impression of that person. His probably an ok dude. A risky scent to wear to an interview.

I like it but it's flanker , Le Male Terrible , is even better.
Earlier today I was by a guy who looked like he was a total tool that took a bath in this stuff. The wake from his sillage was amazing. I do feel the formula has changed 12 years ago but that maybe me...anyway I have long out grew Le Male..sorry Robes.

One of the worst scents that I have ever smelled. Too powdery, too strong, nothing good about this one. My bottle that bought years ago because of all of the hype still has about 3 inches of dust on it, and that doesn't mean it's time for me to clean house. One light spray of this is over doing it, and too much
I wanted to like this fragrance. I heard about it's beastmode longevity and projection but I didn't get any of it when I tried it about 3 or 4 times. I don't have dry skin and almost everything else which generally has great longevity and projection works perfectly fine on me. Very disappointing. And the scent was rather very generic and very boring IMO. It is cheap though so that's good. I Love that it comes in a stripped can of baked beans. Who knows maybe it'll be better with 3 or 4 sprays.
I love it, as long as you spray it on sparingly. My fiancé hates it though, so I can't wear it often.
I really liked it until I realised that it was the most overused fragrance in the world and not the most subtle.
I still wear it alone in the house sometimes.
Le Male is great...thing is Tobacco Vanille kind of ruined all other vanillas to me. Only the mighty Dior Homme Intense can keep up with that to me, and that's cause it's vanilla is a bit less pronounced. TV kills it for me.
i like le male. it's not one of my all time favorites, but it has a place in my wardrobe.
as for vanilla based scents, i like them as long they are made correctly. so many vanilla fragrances use too much vanilla as a crutch for an overall weak fragrance, and it shows.
I'm a probably more of a whore for vanilla than any other single note. In fact some of my all time favourite fragrances contain almost nothing else. The thing is I have different vanillas for different moods, situations and purposes. Picking a favourite would be difficult.
Going purely by smell alone Annick Goutal's Vanille Exquise wins by a mile. When I compare it to SDV which costs almost three times as much (for less, to boot: 75mls vs 100mls) AG smells opulent, refined, natural and utterly luxurious; the vanilla has a nutty, buttery quality which is far removed from the sugar-cookie vanillas which seem more popular, while the overall milky smoothness of the fragrance is almost too good to be true. In a direct comparison to other big-shot vanillas I own like SDV it crushes and humiliates the competition, but that's only if we go by the smell. Since, while it's on the cheaper side for vanilla fragrances I consider top-notch (only Eau des Baux costs less) the sillage is very timid and the longevity is typical of many Annick Goutal EDTs. That is to say a calculated attempt to make you buy the body cream and so on to make it worthwhile. Now if you do that the price doesn't seem as good (moreover I find such products compromise the scent as their fragrances are invariably of lower quality) and if you don't you'll be spraying so much that, once again, the seemingly tempting price will be seen for the illusion that it is.
Molinard's pre-reformulation vanille is probably one of the few which covered all bases for me. A straight, non-boozy vanilla with a more nutty character without competing gourmand notes that (used to be) very inexpensive, but with solid sillage and longevity. So of course it was reformulated and the reformulation, while nice, is a boozy-vanilla like so many others.
Edit - just to note I really, really don't like Le Male. I can't really understand why people think of it as a vanilla.

Favourite Vanilla fragrance would definitely be Dior Fahrenheit 32!
Really wanted to like Le Male but for some reason it just didn't last on my skin. I feel there are better Vanilla fragrances out there anyway.
Do NOT enjoy Le Male. Blind buy regret.
"Fresh" cologne scent mixed with a poor quality vanilla and spices that smell like BO.
No takers for a trade. Odd that...
I will instead wear Tobacco Vanille, Kouros, any vanilla but jpg
I hate Le male and I hate any other fragrance that tries to copy it lol..... I like the vanilla in Gaultier 2 and Dior homme....
Big fan of Le Male here, even asked for another bottle of it for Christmas.
I like it much more than Terrible
Im neutral on Le Male. Not something I would wear anymore and when I did wear it, it was once in awhile.
Have a bottle for sale/trade and its near impossible to move.
Today i like the good time when i loved Le Male... My Girl is still in love in Le Male.
Vanilla Based Frag
Designer : Jil Sander Absolute
Niche : The One And Only TV .
I do not like Le Male because of its bland and boring drydown
Tried le fuer again. There is something that is alluring about this frag. But it justt does not have that spike I like. Too balmy.
Any opinions I post here about frags only reflect MY PERSONAL TASTE and only my personal preference which could change at any moment.
absolutely beautiful and amazing
I think it is disgusting. I can't stand it. I abhor it.
On the other hand, I love the ads with the gay sailors and stuff, and the videos at youtube. I also love the bottle, it is very sexy.
I'm still a fan of Le Male after all these years. So what if a lot of other people wear it... it still smells distinctive after 18 years on the market, which not many other fragrances can claim. Much like Acqua di Gio, another polarizing-based-on-popularity scent on Basenotes, the best-seller status of Le Male (in the top 10 in both Europe and the US) is justified by how revolutionary the product was at launch. I even have a fitting nickname for it: "Man In A Can".
Of course, it helps that one of my friends (and a former coworker of my father) used to work for BPI USA (which distributes Jean Paul Gaultier, Issey Miyake, Narciso Rodriguez, and now Ferragamo and Burberry as well). But even if I didn't know her, there would still be a bottle of Le Male in my collection.
Top 5 for Fall:
1) Straight to Heaven - By Kilian
2) New York - Nicolai
3) Terre d'Hermes
4) Aventus - Creed
5) Flower of Immortality - By Kilian
My mission statement: "I am not afraid to keep on living - I am not afraid to walk this world alone."
I still haven't been able to stomach Le Male. I don't really get vanilla. I get a sweet synthetic plastic smell. The Dreamer offends me in a similar way.
Tom Ford Private Blend Splits Costa Azzurra / Mandarino Di Amalfi / Oud Wood / Tobacco Vanille / Tobacco Oud / Neroli Portofino / Noir de Noir / Tuscan Leather / Plum Japonais/ Oud Fleur / Italian Cypress HERE
The only thing I like about Le Male are the advertisements. Very charismatic.
I love Le Male regardless of whatever is said of it. I can't be bothered with niche that's supposedly better. Smells good to me, longlasting with great projection. It's got all I look for in a fragrance.
Le Male is very synthetic but i did find Antico Caruso to be niche version, very refined and natural
It gives me a migraine, and I find L'eau D'issey has that same affect on me.
Stinks like a bad powdered laundry detergent
i love le male, my wife hates it. in fact when i wear anything that smells remotely like le male (reflection man, antico caruso, trades) she will say "is that le male" in a disapproving manner lol.
Only tried it twice.. I liked it better the second time.. But still didn't like it.
Current favourite: Spiritueuse Double Vanille
this is what i think of, when i smell Le Male
