Why not get the prototype as it's dirt cheap not that the scent smells cheap but instead high end, and yes as per Douczar I do get somewhat vibe to Sycamore but to Me you're not gonna find something identical if anything try also Frederic malle's Vetiver extraordinaire , EN flankers plus even TDh...

I'd also suggest Encre Noire Sport.

Wonderwood gives me a similar vibe as Encre Noire but WW is smoother and way pricier.

Identical you say? Well look no further than Lalique Encre Noire for Men, of course. At ~$25 for 100ml bottle, it's practically as cheap as they get. Anything 'similar' (like the already mentioned Sycomore) costs upwards of 7 or 8 times that much.

Like others have mentioned, just purchase Encre Noire. Inexpensive fragrance.

How have you folk felt about the Sport flanker?

Is it any good? The notes seem interesting to say the least and I did wonder how they'd make something as dark as EN a bit lighter and fruitier without cocking up its essence.

I personally like it - a bit tamer version of the original.

I'll definitely have to sample this, just never seen it in any stores.

The original is one of them love/hate scents for me. Sometimes it comes across as elegant and brooding, other times its just a skankfest of dirty leaves covered in ink.

I have often considered layering it before, usually with something light like an Acqua Di Parma citrus based frag to give it more body which is why the flanker interests.

I've really been enjoying Sport which I've found to be a lighter, brighter version of the original.

Agree. At first I wasn't sure about it, but within 30 minutes, I was sold. A very good blind buy. If you love the original, this is a must-try.

Yup, that was exactly my experience as well. My initial reaction upon first spray was, "Meh, this is basically a watered down version of the original." But then it started to open up a bit and I began to pick up on the subtle nuances that really make Encre Noire Sport special.
