Hello all Basenoters,
First of all, I love this site. I have been lurking here for about half a year now and still looking for that just right scent for work. I'm 30 and I work up close and personal with others.
To get an idea of my taste...
I find Gendarme original clean and elegant. I think it is a wonderful scent, but it is not sexy and it doesn't really last.
L'homme by YSL fits the fresh, crisp and sexy description... but only for 10 minutes. Then I am left with a rather dull and mediocre drydown.
I also like AdP Colonia, I just find it a little too cloying.
Chrome would be great, but it has a headache causing metallic note.
So, to sum things up...
1) A sexy Gendarme
2) A L'homme with a better drydown
3) A softer AdP Colonia or
4) A non-metallic Chrome
Hmm...based solely from the stuff I own, I would recommend you try Aventus by Creed--crisp pineapple with a slight smokey/ashy feel. Very unique and classy, has good longevity, and women definitely consider it sexy (at least in my experience). Failing that, give Versace Dreamer a shot. It's a little cloying and powdery off the bat, but if you spray it a good 30-45 minutes before you get to work, you'll be left with a fresh, sweet, and sexy drydown that will last you all day.
Or...just get Green Irish Tweed.
What I've been wearing far too much of lately:
-Amouage Lyric Man
-Guerlain Gourmand Coquin
-Creed Jardin d'Amalfi
Try Bvlgari Pour Homme (Extrême).
"He who ruled scent ruled the hearts of men." — Patrick Süskind (Perfume: The Story of a Murderer)
Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver
Aventus or Green Irish Tweed.
Bleu De Chanel, Chanel Allure Edition Blanche, Chanel Platinum Egoiste (this would be sexier than the latter)
I find Joop's Nightflight to be a really refreshing scent. It's a superfresh lemon/pineapple over a detergent type powder that starts extremely clean and bright and dries down to almost a sparkling, mysterious base. It's always been my favorite from the Joop house.
Also, for strictly refreshing and crisp, try YSL's Live Jazz. I'm not sure if it would be called "sexy", but it's one of the most refreshing and unique scents that I own.
