Caron Pour Un Homme.
Thread: Favorite Lavender Fragrance
What is your favorite lavender fragrance? I have discovered that I like lavender and would like to know about more fragrances that feature it. I could only find threads from a couple of years ago or older, so I thought it would be a good topic to revisit. So far, I like Gris Clair and Gendarme 20 the most from what I have tried but also find some nice lavender in The Third Man and Rochas Man. What do you like?
Caron Pour Un Homme.
Best fragrance where lavender is a key player is Oxford & Cambridge, for me.
Right now I am enjoying 3 really good lavender scents, all with very different concetrations and pyramids, but all of them really comfortable for me:
Creed's Royal Scottish Lavender
Caron's Pour Un Homme
Yardley's English Lavender
and the relatively new 4711's Lavender & Thyme.
Only the last one is not considered a classic since it came out just about 2 years ago, and it's very good to me, intensely fresh for the duration of the scent, all of its 10 minutes. (maybe a bit more). The combination of the 2 main notes is great.
Creed's scent is rich and forceful in all its lavender top-mid notes then it changes into a classic woodsy sandalwood and spices bottom. The descent is rather fast though.
Caron's is more of the caveman lavender that wants to be romantic, i don't find it particularly elegant, but many elegant men used it and it is now considered elegant for that sole reason. The base is a darker and sweeter vanilla and musk. This is the one that will last the longest of this small selection.
Yardley's is a simple and "what you see is what you get" Lavender and it's great for the skin, for linens, for the room etc. A very honest lavender. Contrary to popular opinion, this scent doens't have just lavender but many other ingredients (it has other florals and musk) and they contribute to the fresh and stable quality of it.
I assume you did the search...??? seriously, this is the tip of the iceberg man... I don't really know what's new since any of these threads below...
Ford Lavender Palm? C&S Oxford&Cambridge?
most of the good ones IMO are old classics anyway. Ie Caron PH, Jicky, etc
Tom Ford Splits:Noir de Noir, Neroli Portofino, Lavender Palm, Plum Japonais, Champacca Absolute, Tobacco Vanille ONE LEFT: Italian Cypress, Patchouli Absolu, Amber Absolute, Tuscan Leather, Oud Wood
Most of the time I am very proud of the Basenotes community. Time after time I have witnessed the thoughtfulness, empathy & genuine friendship that members of this community extend to others - oldtimers & newcomers alike. There are other times, however, when egos get the upper hand and civility goes out the window. My philosophy is that I won't say anything here that I would not say if you were standing in front of me. Welcome to Basenotes, each and every one of us. ~ TwoRoads
I'm not crazy about Lavender but Caron pour un Homme is worth a sniff.
I am currently on a love affair with lavender and it would easier for me to list those that I don't like rather than the huge amount I love/own/want to own.
I am currently obsessed with owning Jicky (extrait) by Guerlain - IMO French perfumery's best lavender fragrance.

Caron Pour un Homme will get mentioned a lot. Classic and timeless.
A Taste of Heaven is like an upscale niche version of CPUH and has much better longevity and a price to match.
Jo Malone's Amber & Lavender quite nice too.

Kiki extrait by Vero Kern. A big, effusive, and very natural smelling lavender, has been give some chiaroscuro effects by a powdery caramel note.
+1 to Caron pour un Homme, a true classic gem of sharp lavender and a clean vanilla cream.
I guess GIT.
I want to add:
Puig - Agua Lavanda
PdN - Pour Homme
Caron - Les plus Belles Lavandes

Arome 3: a perfect lavender opening followed by a spicy floral fougere with jasmine and amber
Crabtree & Evelyn Lavender Water: beautiful, natural lavender soliflore--no musk, no moss, just lavender
Caldey Island: natural French lavender with a warm, grassy musk base
Patou pour homme Prive: excellent fruity lavender fragrance with fougere structure
Royal Scottish Lavender: natural lavender, similar in character to Caldey, with spices, woods, ambergris, and some castoreum.

Gendarme 20 - Operating room clean Lavender
Nancy Boy Body Spray - Lav, Mint, Rosemary
I am currently enjoying Lavender Water by Crabtree & Evelyn (it is discontinued now). I own the current Lavender EDT from Crabtree & Evelyn too but Lavender Water is a hundred times better. I find it to be linear with poor longevity.
Another vote for Caron pour un Homme
A Taste of Heaven
Order varies between:
Gris Clair -SL
Royal Scottish Lavender - Creed
l'Impact de Caron
Arome 3 - d'Orsay
ointments and perfume delight the heart....
No Le Male?
+1 Pour Un Homme, and I'll throw in the middle Hypnose Homme, not half bad as they say
À l'air libre les oiseaux ont eux aussi le vertige (camille)
Caldey Island Lavender and Oxford and Cambridge.
Caldey Island Lavender is the ULTIMATE in lavender fragrances.
