I vote neither.
Thread: Jolie Madame or Miss Balmain?
Which one is more appropriate for a knuckle-dragging silverback? Both? Neither?
I vote neither.
Balmain is one of my favorite houses, so don't make me google "knuckle dragging silverback"
I like both myself but the silver is on my head, not my back.
"Great art picks up where nature ends.”
- Marc Chagall
Googling "knuckle-dragging silverback" didn't help.
Vintage Jolie Madame is heavenly S&M. I don't know the current.
None of these is a knuckle-dragger, fora hairy-chested beast.
Jolie Madame is a violet leather that is easily a unisex, but it is gentlemanly and refined for a man.
Miss Balmain has leather, but the amount of floral aldehydes makes this much more difficult for the average man to wear.
I like them both.
I suggest you try them both.
"...her fragrance all in my keeping; softly she comes in the night." Lyrics, Gordon Lightfoot, "Softly."
Thanks, sounds good, will try them both indeed.
I hope I will not find Miss Balmain too difficult to wear. So far I mainly ran into trouble with florals like e.g. in Tommy Girl and Kenzo Flower, who, I believe, are both considered unisex by users.
I love both, and also BALMAIN DE BALMAIN. I have voted for JOLIE MADAME
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."
Clarice Lispector ( 1920-1977) - Perfumes da Terra / Earth Perfumes
Get them both.
A silvery gentleman of distinction can handle all that these two ladies can dish out.
Personally, I lover Jolie Madame in the winter - it calls up rain, midnight, violets held in a glove of soft black leather.
Try Miss Balmain in dry weather either hot or cold - the woods and animalic notes will surprise you. It's a scent like a freshly sharpened blade - keen and wicked.
That sounds very nice. Can't wait for them to arrive.
