Default Fragrances that smell like fabric softener

Can someone reccommend me a fragrance (other than the Clean line, Mugler Cologne, and Gendarme) that smells of fabric softener or freshly washed clothes? It doesn't matter if the fragrance is for men or women since both my sister and me have always been looking for a fragrance like this. I have sampled Penhaligon's Castile which doesn't really smell of fabric softener but rather of soap, but there's just something in it that I can't stand. I really like Mugler Cologne and Gendarme and my sister likes the Dlish Clean scents, but we want to try something else. There's got to be more than this. Thanks in advance!

Try some various white musks. You should definitely find some scents that'll satisfy you if you start your search there. Sorry I can't recommend any specific ones.

I strongly dislike Castile too. As orobas was saying, white musks could do the trick. In the expensive range, I too second Aqua Universalis, which has in fact been made into a (wonderful) detergent. And Tom Ford has three or four white musks (urban musk, jasmine musk, etc etc). In cheaper territory (but perhaps even better) While Linen by Estee Lauder is slighlty rosy, aldehidic (that is, soapy) and white-musky.

I own an excellent Arabian oil called White Musk by Abdul Sameer Al Qureishi, but I think it is difficult to find.

To me, Hermès Hermessence Osmanthe Yunan is quite fabric softener-ish. Very pricey so try first!

You then begin to realize that there is a vast realm of intelligence beyond thought, that thought is only a tiny aspect of that intelligence. You also realize that all the things that truly matter - beauty, love, creativity, joy, inner peace - arise from beyond the mind.

How about Outrageous by Frederic Malle? I think that smells like clean laundry.

The best scent in this category that I have come across in my extensive sampling is Geste by Humiecki & Graef. It's like the most luxurious, non-synthetic fabric softener smell one can imagine. It's far warmer than L'eau by Serge Lutens, far less overtly synthetic than the Clean scents, far less busy than say, Prada Amber (although all of those are good suggestions!).

It's the ultimate "white shirt"/"clean laundry" scent, imo.

Nautica White Sail has a clean laundry vibe to me. (it's an older fragrance though, & I don't see it often). I also get a clean fresh vibe from Boss Pure. Check out CK Be for a white musk scent.

If it's more of a lavender type detergent smell you are after, you could try Wings, Aqua Quorum, and Cuba Grey. Also, if you like sharp citrus mixed with a laundry sheet vibe, Joop Nightflight is wondrful.

Creed's Love in White smells exactly like freshly-washed laundry to me.

Damn - check out the amazing description of Geste on Luckyscent. Must. . . have. . . now. . .

Powdered violets and a brisk musk that puts one in mind of freshly starched hotel sheets lead off this intriguing, elusive fragrance. Spritz it on and then go about your business, because it takes a few moments for this to come into its own. Geste is about the intensity of quiet things. The violets lose their powdery quality and become clear and sweetly melancholy, nestling into a comfy bed of amber-laced musk. Some musks are clean and some are dirty, and this seems to dance on the edge right between the two -- innocent and seductive by turns. Soft fir resin adds an appealing, distinctly modern edge. The resin has a hint of the therapeutic about it, like bath salts or a spa sauna, and adds a comforting roughness that counters the delicacy of the violets. Those contradictions – dirty and clean, rough and gentle – are what make this fragrance so fascinating. They also explain why this works so well on both men and women. Discreetly risqué, this has the genteel recklessness of an afternoon tryst in a luxury suite. Subtle and unique.

It smells quite similar to one of the April Fresh fabric softener.
If you're interested in this one, you might wanna go check out at Ross, Marshalls etc first before paying for the retail.

Another that you should definitely check out is Essence by Narciso Rodriguez. I wish I could find a fabric softener that smelled this good (it's weird, it smells like a laundry product, but yet so much better than any laundry product I've ever come across).

My personal favorite is A Scent by Issey Mikaye, the green bottle version, not the pink. It's great.

I also really liked Chanel's Cristale Eau Verte, which is a leafier, greener fabric softener.

On the niche tip, I just sniffed Lubin's Gin Fizz, which smelled that smell you get when you walk by a dryer vent - warm air with fabric softener and clean clothes.

I have sampled some of the scents suggested. I couldn't get a sample of all of them though, because a lot of them are not easy to find here in Germany. Especially not as a sample. What I was able to get as samples were these scents:

Aqua Universalis: This is a nice scent, but a bit too feminine for me. I prefer the forte version, which is great. I really love Aqua Universalis Forte.

Muschio Bianco: A nice and clean scent. Can get easily boring though.

Comme Des Garcons Odeur 53: There's just something in it that I can't stand. Maybe it's the nail polish...

Bulgari Eau de Vert is a very nice scent as well but not very long lasting. Same with CK Be.

My favorites so far are Aqua Universalis Forte and Keiko Mecheri Musc.
