In other posts I said that Vitriol D'Oillet was not my cup of tea as I was looking for a spicy7rose7carnation-based frag. well.....
I tried a sample a few hours ago and I found out I actually like it very much! It's strange, because every time I try a SL fragrance it amazes me for the first 15 minutes, then I get disappointed finding out that it keeps the same note until the end...I must admit that I am Quite new to the "world of fragrances", so I should learn more before judging...anyway, I'm beginning to like Vitriol D'Oillet...

SL's Vitriol is not your average department store fragrance, and I think many expect this.

It's a dry rose with spice and the clove is very evident. It's not Malmaison, but very good floral that's not a knock-out white floral.

As I said before I really think because of the name people did expect this monster clove/carnation. I get more lilies in there rather than carnation, yes it is there too. Soft spicy warm pretty, not sure that word would normally go with Serge Lutens.

I still want to try this myself to see..I love carnation...aren't there restrictions on clove? There may not be a good carnation out for a while.

I personally love it. I picture something with claws, but nicely manicured and painted with some luxurious polish (not that I smell any polish in this, no). It brings a smile to my face whenever I sniff it. It's very fresh smelling, but it's far away from being a light scent.
