    Default Rance 1795 Triomphe

I retested this one today and will echo my initial finding that it is very well done.

Right from the first sniff you are aware of the quality and complexity. The opening is divine, the citrus-violet leafe combo is fresh but not sharp. This would be the iris doing its volume control. It's not loud but remarkably tenacious.

It's the perfect all-rounder, good for work or play. Seriously looking at a full bottle down the track, and will definitely explore the rest of the line.

    Notes:

Top Notes: Mandarin, Calabrian Lemon, Violet Leaves and Apple

Middle Notes: Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine from Grasse, Florentine Iris

Base Notes: Sandal Wood, Cedar Wood, Musk, Vanille Réunion

I like this line but I find it has rather poor longevity.

I agree with the comments above and I also like Triomphe, but on my skin after a couple of hours it has gone.

Funny, I got good longevity out of it. It's base is soft and has that clean musc (millisime) that isn't detectable by all. could that be a factor?

A light mix of citrus, woods, and vetiver. A well done frag from a line that doesn't seem to get much love on here.

If anybodys interested samples of this as well as a few others from the line can be found on fragrancevials.com.

The fake history calls to mind Creed, and the notes list and Napoleon angle, Aventus (sort of). Is it similar to Aventus at all?

Luckyscent just picked up the line, I believe... I have samples of this one and another one in the line on the way right now. The notes look great. I like the look of the bottles too, not that that has anything to do with the scent inside... As far as smelling like Aventus, I'll know soon enough, but I sincerely hope not as I did not like it much...

Thanks to Hedonist222's enormous generosity, I actually had samples to try out already as it turned out. I am wearing their Le Vainqueur on my right arm that is a very nice lavender dominant scent with citric and marine aspects. Not my cup of tea, but very well executed and recommended.

Triomphe, on my left is a very different scent... The top notes fade extremely quickly on my skin, but there is subtle orange that comes and goes in a flash, giving way primarily to what I see listed in the base notes as its heart notes... Cedar is definitely the dominant heart note on my skin, with sandalwood and incense as strong supporting notes. I also get a lot of light musk in the dry-down. Longevity is about average for me at 8 hours.

I can't say it is really different than a lot of scents on the market, but it distinguishes itself in the execution, IMO. Extremely wearable, and very much to my personal taste. Definitely a winner, IMO, and thankfully nothing like Aventus at all.

I happen to like Le Vainqueur. It's an EDP, as I believe all Rance scents are.

The Rance fanciful "history," like Creed and Parfums D'Orsay, is pure marketing strategy. Historians have long noted the marketing "legend" created by D'Orsay, and Luca Turin "outed" Rance in his blog.
