Question Lauder for men(1985)-is it a safe blind buy??

Seen several reviews on this fragrance and a lot of people consider it to be a truly great 1980s fragrance-am seriously considering buying this fragrance(my last 1980s fragrance i will buy this year)in terms of smell.sillage, and longevity would lauder for men be a safe blind buy? would appreciate your thoughts.

After blind-buying this fragrance, and then later swapping
it, I would say no, this is not a safe blind buy.

It has a lot of oakmoss in it, and to be brutally honest,
it smelled like sour or mildewed wood on my skin.

If you really like oakmoss, that might make it a safer
blind buy, but otherwise, I would say buying this one
before smelling it is not a good idea.

This falls squarely into the list of fragrances headed "Try before you buy".

That said, ELM works for me

The far drydown is similar to Coriolan, if that helps.

    In a word, NO.

It's marvelous, mind you, but it's also something of a love-it-or-hate-it scent. I would advise against buying it unsniffed.

No. If it was $20 it would be a yes.

I blind bought it and didn't like -- too much iris/violet makes it quite soapy to my nose.

Lauder for Men (original) = Yes

Lauder for Men (reformulated) = No

Buy the vintage blind(and a back-up bottle!)....buy the reformulation only if you want to understand why the IFRA is killing all the classics

I agree with you and am willing to take all your post year 2k bottles off your hands. I'm shocked that you would have such dreck in your wardrobe and am willing to dispose of them for you.

Hehe... It's just that some blind buys are slightly safer.......... But this one is not.
I can speak only for the reformulation.
