People either seem to love it or detest it.
Well.. I picked up a bottle at TJ Maxx for $19.00 (on sale today at Walgreens for the same price) on Friday thinking I had something because that's all I hear about this scent.. but I'm sorry to day it's just not for me.. Where's the hype in this? Or is it because I'm 13 years to late on this one?
Not try to offend anyone either..
People either seem to love it or detest it.
Too vapid and unimaginative for my taste, I was and still am in the pretty same situation, after each separate testing
I love this cheap sh#t
Just stopped using it in 1993-1994, when everyone used it.
Then bought a 200 ml bottle EDT of it last week after 17 years lay off - still love it, even though it's cheap and a very basic fragrance

I admit, I love it too. It's still my alltime favorite (even over much more expensive niche scents). That lavender/peppermint fizzy top over the mossy/musky base gets me everytime. (And yes, I do have Green Irish Tweed, and love it; but if I'm truthful, I honestly like Cool Water even more. I really like the lavender/peppermint top & mossy base more than GIT's violet leaves up top and ambergris base).
Honestly I don't smell any similarities between GIT and Cool Water. I never liked Cool Water and with GIT it was love at first smell.
Anyway I wouldn't take CW for free.
Right now I think that I have all the fragrances that I want.
CW isn't something I'd buy or wear again, without regard to its alleged similarity to GIT (which, btw, I do not find). Davidoff should spend less time and money trying to copy other houses and make their own mark. Good Life is a good example of their efforts in the latter.
I find it good, but the lasting power is no good at all (maybe older formulations was stronger, the new ones not)
Poor Longevity and really synthetic (hurts my nose!)
The hunt for a Signature Fragrance is not an easy one! I see the light at the end of the tunnel! Edit: 2015... I've given up and given in
http://www.basenotes.net/threads/414...-Discontinued) (My swap thread)
Looking for swap: Bentley Intense, Boss Bottled Intense, Bond No 9 I love NY for all (Would consider decants), Pure Tonka A*men, Lolita Lempicka Minuit, Aqua Di Gio Essenza
I paid 40 English pounds for a bottle of Cool Water which when you consider I bought The Dreamer for 20 pounds and Le Male for 42, has to be my worst purchase.
I was clueless at the time, this forum has since shown me the light.
it's good cologne when the weather is really hot. yes, it smells synthetic in early spray but getting better after 1 hour.
Cool Water is a gateway fragrance, much like Acqua Di Gio. It is highly obtainable, easily wearable, overly marketed, and quite recognizable. Someone smells it on someone else, thinks it’s nice. Purchases it, enjoys it, looks for something else. Finds Basenotes, gets into niche / vintage / less prominent fragrances and lambasts it. Is it a good fragrance? It has its place, yes. Is there better out there? Absolutely!
While Cool Water smells good it does not last at all.....Very poor longevity for me.....Gary
Longevity for Cool Water has always been brilliant for me
More for me, then.
CW is a great scent.
The current version isn't quite as good as it used to be but it is still very, very close.
The dry down on the current version I think is in fact better than previous versions.
You're probably too late and perhaps did smell too many fragrances. Cool Water is supposed to be your first panty dropper to be experienced at a fairly young age.
Well, or you just don't like it. Horses for courses. What fragrances do you like?
Loved it back in the days.
Hadn't smelled it for many years when I gave it a test in a store a few weeks ago.
But the magic was far gone for me...
Still a classic though.
Way too much synthetic jasmine from the dihydromyrcenol for me -- smells very synthetic and sweet. Vapid and spineless
I am still a loyal fan of CW; wear it once or twice a month and really enjoy it. To each his own.
Will probably also wear it once or twice monthly, I love the mint and marina smell of it.
I get good longevity - 6-7 sprays give me 8-10 hours where I still feel it on me, and still after 12 hours I can smell it's still there on my skin
I do understand why old time BASENOTERS, who spends 1.000 of $$ on Niche frags, will feel repulsed by cheap mono synthetic copy-paste Cool Water
I still love it none the less
But I also love Eternity

How funny, I am a fan of Eternity as well! I was almost ashamed to mention it around these parts for fear of getting flamed, haha.
I think CW and Eternity just take me back to a different time and I get nostalgic when I wear them. If I put on Eternity, my wife follows me around like a puppy dog - it's her favorite with my skin chemistry. Cheers my friend.
I haven't worn it in over 20 years, but I used to enjoy wearing it and it was one of the few scents that I actually went through a full bottle. I personally think it is much better than folks give it credit for. I have moved on, but I still have fond memories of my time wearing it all those years ago...

13 years too late. its sexy on some guys
The original cool water is a masterpiece.
People are quite snobby when it comes to this fragrance because it its so close to Creed GIT and the fact that you cant tell that it is virtually 100% synthetic. I personally dont mind it because it takes be back to being 13 again :-)
I smelled this on a guy in front of me in line at Subway today. Honestly, it smelled really nice. He had a suit on, as did I. He turned and complimented me on my suit, and I returned the favor on his. I did not compliment the Cool Water he had on, but it did smell really good and had me jonesin' for a new bottle...in spite of the fact that it has never smelled vey good on me! I should have really freaked him out and said "excuse me, the letters on your bottle, are they cursive or block?"
