Default Salvatore Ferragamo platinum pour homme?

    Hey everyone,

I've been lurking around here for a while and finally decided to join.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the "platinum" version of Ferragamo pour homme. I keep running into this at the local tj maxx but have not bought it for fear that it might be very similar to the "regular" ferragamo pour homme, which I am a fan of.

    Anyone know this scent?

I have tried the platinum version that my friend has and didn't think very much of it at all. Honestly don't remember what the regular
    one smelled like.

I have both and I prefer the original version and the two are not similar at all. If you can, smell the platinum version...would love to hear what you think about it. I'm not a big fan.

19.99 I saw it at TJ Maxx today on the womens display. Never heard of it before today. The original was not bad, serious fig however.

I have this, and for the longest time I thought it was just a limited edition bottle with the same juice inside. Apparently Platinum Edition is extremely rare, very little information on the internet about it.

For the longest time I couldn't understand why or how people say this is a fig based fragrance. I just didn't get it. Even my review on it some years back that I made. Turns out this is an entirely different fragrance, and not just a limited bottle. It's a sour woodsy scent, very similar to Antonio by Antonio Banderas.

I actually stuck this into a fragrance lot I just listed on Ebay, but then after doing a little bit of research on the bottle, I realized it's a different fragrance all together. Although I am not particularly fond of it, and I hardly wear it, I'll be hanging onto it now, solely because of its value and rarity.

    Has anybody else tried this?

I like it a lot, very easy to wear, yet more interesting and unique than most woody scents I own. Good for work.

The interesting part: Platinum and Blue are both fragrances specifically made for TJ Maxx by Ferragamo. While this is common business for apparel, it is rare for fragrances. Michel Germain is the only other house I know doing it. Platinum was never sold anywhere else or has appeared on an official Ferragamo website.

To me, Platinum is way more attractive than blue and even better than the original pour homme.

Interesting. The original PH is one of my favorite scents. I never heard about the Platinum flanker. Now I am interested and hope to hear more reviews!

Wow, neat. Didn't know there was a blue one too.

It's been out for quite a while, I got my bottle in 2011 I think. It was brought up on another thread once before, and had maybe 3 posts about it, one person said it was the same juice as the original, but it's definitley not. I guess this one slipped between the cracks.

Sometimes I see it going on Ebay though for a low price, like 20 shipped, I guess the people selling it don't realize the rarity of it.

I was given a bottle of Ferragamo Platinum Pour Homme about three years ago now. I have always assumed that is was an earlier incarnation of Subtil (despite the obviously different blue bottle) because I don't see it in any fragrance directory. Well, today I smelled Subtil and found out that, like most assumptions, I was wrong. What I had turned out to be Platinum. And then, I found out via this thread that it is rare. Oh, well...rare or not, it's still an "okay" fragrance. It is a linear composition of citrus aldehydes with a little bit of lactonic woods in the background. Reminds me of Acqua di Gio Essenza, most probably because of the hedione/paradisone notes, but without the calone. It's not long-lasting at all...about 2.5 - 3.0 hours on me.

And, no, it's not the same scent as the fig-based Ferragamo Pour Homme. Both come in the same clear bottle, but have different coloured contents: Platinum is clear, Pour Homme is yellowish.
