Thread: dark coconut

    Default dark coconut

Are there any designer colognes that have a dark, coconut, tropical vibe to them? Something that isnt to sweet, but still has like a smooth manly coconut scent.

Tokyo Milk Bulletproof. Smoky tea at the top, but the coconut emerges shortly thereafter. Coconut persists through the drydown, which also features some woody notes. Not a designer, but it's very inexpensive.

    Hesperides by Essenze di Mezzanotte.
It isn't really dark but fits your order for a less sweet, 'manly' coconut very well.
A little understated but there and doesn't scream 'look @ me' like viw

Bermuda Tonic by Aramis is a dark, fairly dry coconut. I think it has been discontinued, but it is still pretty easy to find online (bought mine this past June). Not too expensive, either ($55 - $65 for 100 ml).

I wouldn't consider this dark! It makes me feel like i'm on a sunny, tropical beach in the aqua colored waves!

I'm thinking maybe Tom Ford Black Orchid?

Recently picked up a bottle, and would definitely agree!

+1 for Black Orchid. lf there is such a thing as a "dark" tropical, this is it!

That may be so, but a fragrance can conjure all kinds of seemingly unlikely impressions & "vibes". Surely that is the beauty & mystery of perfumery.

It's certainly a super scent - not sure I'd describe it as a dark coconut though. A worthy addition to any collection!

Paul Smith have recently re-introduced this one:

    Cadjmere
    Volo AZ 686 (Profumum)
Anvers (no coconut but it definitely has a tropical vibe)
Bel Ami (maybe not tropical but has a dark coconut note)
Van Cleef & Arples Pour Homme (see above)

Like I said, I really like this one - read the reviews in the BN directory, they seem pretty accurate. The only thing I'd add is that I personally get a hint of mint in the mix too. I'd agree about the boozy-ness though!

It's a strong scent that projects well and has good sillage, and I've always received compliments when I've worn this.

If you blind buy it and don't like it, I bet you'll find it easy to dispose of either on here or on eBay.

and I would dare to propose Datura Noir as it also has a deep coconut butter note and is associated with nocturnal flowers.

Oh yeah, definitely +1 to Datura Noir. It's maybe a bit on the feminine side, but it's very good.

I'll second Coco Extreme from Comptoir Sud Pacifique. Again, I'm baffled by the suggestions given here. I think the OP is looking for a frag that has more than a barely perceptible microdrop of coconut in it. Bel Ami as a coconut, dark or otherwise..?

I too am on the search for a more Manly Coconut Scent. I realize the nature of coconut and its properties are generally more marketed towards females or "very" unisex frags such as VIW. but many of the other suggestions seem to be even MORE feminine in nature such as the CSP, Black Orchid and Tokyo Milk. I tried the Paul Smith London at a local shop that actually has 3 bottles left (the only place I can find it anywhere) and while its very nice I just cant seem to link it to coconut. ...

Which of all the suggestions or any new suggestion would be the most masculine coconut choice??

Does anyone get coconut from the original Chanel Allure Homme? In that case it would be a great dark coconut!

Try Vanille Monoi by Les Senteurs Gourmands by Laurence Dumont. This has a huge coconut note with tiare and jasmine.
