    Default Alternatives to Chanel Coromandel

I love the stuff but I don't want to break the bank. What perfumes like it (in notes or attitude) would you recommend?

I sprayed Guerlain L'Instant Pour Homme on a strip about a week ago and the perfume still bright and very much there, it reminds me of Coromandel a bit.

Try Prada – their first major launch.

Maybe propose a split on a big flacon?

    Best advice IMO.

    +1 - you won't regret buying it.

Try borneo 1834 by Serge Lutens or Gentleman by Givenchy.
Not alternatives but similar in the patchouli way.

As tott said, the original Prada perfume has a very similar drydown. The top notes are not that similar, though, so it depends upon what you're looking for in Coromandel.

Another vote for SL Bornéo 1834

I could also add Elixir Patchouli by Reminiscence: this is spectacular.

It is spectacular but it is 98% patchouli whereas Coromandel & say Borne 1834 are less, perhaps 60% patchouli dominant.

I bought Guerlain L'Instant Eau Extreme this weekend after a few testings.
It did remind me of Coromandel:
It has a simular greenish opening that turns into a deep dark brown.
Lush all the way and so comforting.
Cormandel is the winner of the two for me though and not that expensive when you go for the big one.
    [L'Instant 75ml for 70 euro // Coromandel 200ml for 210 euro].

Better to break the bank and be happy than waste money on nonsense. Heritage by Guerlain is similar but will cost you the same.

These days you are lucky to find a good fragrance period for that price. If it works for you splurge. The price they are asking for it is nothing compared to some niche lines.

I've got a frag called Patchouli Plaisir, by Molinard, which is what I had hoped Coromandel would be, for those who get a chance to sample this one, which appears to be discontinued.

Get a decent if money is an issue, there is no close alternative to this one IMO.

I find patchouli a difficult smell to like but I absolutely love it in Coromandel. So confusing to write off certain notes you dislike when this happens.

All the proper substitutes (Borneo 1834 and other high-end sweet patchoulis, even L'Instant EDP) cost as much or more, so if your goal is save some money, you'll be better off just getting a 75 ml Coromandel.

I do not remember Prada in detail, so you might try that.
