Default Birthday Wishlist, What do you think?

    Hey Gang,

It coming up to that time where ill be trying to blow off the candles again.... another year older.... another year not so wiser!

anyway from past experience ive decided to tell my family and friends what i would like from them. This saves the embarassment of getting sub standard fragrances.

    My list

    Dior Homme
    Terre D'Hermes
    Ck Obsession
    Ck One
    Cerruti 1881
    Issey Miyake homme
    Le Male
    Diesel plus plus masculine
rive gauche- will be a blind buy

So what do you guys think? having a look at the list do you think there are other fragrances similar but better in your opinion?

    All comments appreciated

    Thanks

btw i will be getting at least 8 fragrances..... what are peoples opinions of rive gauche?

For popularity sake, and ONLY if they give you the maxi version 6.7 oz/200 ml version, also get JPG Le Male

Take CK One off the list. If you like it, just get Chrome, more masculine version of the same fragrance. Also if you like CK Obsession, look into YSL Opium, I like both but I think Opium is a little better done and a little less "dated" although neither one smells particularly contemporary. Dior Homme Sport > Dior Homme if you haven't tried it, I think it's more versatile and more wearable. I think there are some better options to Le Male that are a little less commonplace and better, but overall good list

Rive Gauche is an excellent choice, can't imagine someone not liking it, very clean and masculine

Perhaps a vetiver scent would be a nice addition. TdH has some, but not the focal point. Maybe Guerlain Vetiver (not to expensive, and a classic), Givenchy Vetiver (very clean, fresh vetiver, and not too pricey), Chanel Sycomore (masterpiece, but pricey), and Encre Noir (very dark sombre but great, not too pricey) are a few suggestions. Happy Birthday!

TdH, Dior Homme, Rive Gauche PH are all solid picks.

I might add a vetiver (Sparky's excellent suggestions) and a good gourmand to your list. Rochas Man and Body Kouros are both good and inexpensive gourmands. Over in the UK you can get Guerlain L'Instant Pour Homme Extreme and Dior Homme Intense fairly easily - both quality gourmands.

*edit: I see you're getting the gourmand A*men, so you've got gourmands covered (although I prefer other gourmands to A*men)

    Welcome to Basenotes!

You have some good options there. I would go with the Hermes and I think Rive Gauche is a fragrance no gent should be without. Great all year round IMO.

    Happy Birthday!

Issey Miyake L'Eau D'issey and Rive Gauche PH are excellent choices. I bought Rive Gauche blindly b/c I heard it smells just like the discontinued Ruehl No 925 Signature Cologne. I always wanted to buy Ruehl no 925 but it was too expensive and now it's $200 for a 3.4 oz on ebay! Rive Gauche does smell like it from what my memory tells me and it has a nice old school, pomade in your hair, fresh haircut and shave feel to it.

I would happily accept and wear the following
    Dior Homme
    Terre D'Hermes
    rive gauche
    Cerruti 1881

I would happily accept then sell on Ebay
Ck Obsession (seedy old men smell)
Issey Miyake homme (not a bad scent, but not something I would like to smell on myself, being human)
Le Male (not bad, but I already received a bottle as gift...which will last me forever)

    The others I don't know

Default Re: Birthday Wishlist, What do you think?

    Le Male > all

But Terre dHermes and Dior Homme are almost as good
