Terre d hermes
Thread: Young scent for old man
What would be a good young scent for an old man to wear, without him appearing to be wearing a scent that is too young for him?
Aspen by Coty.
Green Irish Tweed by Creed
Allure Homme by Chanel
Antaeus by Chanel

Vetiver Extraordinaire - Frederic Malle
Musc Ravageur - Frederic Malle
French Lover - Frederic Malle
Rocky Mountain Wood - Dsquared2
But if I may ask how old is he and such..??
Green Irish Tweed
Egoiste by Chanel
Terre d'Hermes (Pure Parfum)
Sample everything you have an interest in, then get what you enjoy...don't spend a lot of time on what is marketed as a scent for a particular age group.
Gucci PH 1
I would go with Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford. It's the kind of scent that smells youthful / playful as well as mature / established at the same time.
Current top 10:
1. L'Artisan Dzing!
2. Lorenzo Villoresi Yerbamate
3. Guerlain Bois d'Armenie
4. L'Artisan Al Oudh
5. Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Silver Factory
6. Parfumerie Generale Bois Blond
7. Andy Tauer L'Air du Desert Marocain
8. Guerlain Derby
9. Geo F Trumper Eucris
10. Parfum d'Empire Ambre Russe
All of these are great suggestions, although it was definitely Terre d'Hermes that popped into my head. The only 'odd' one out I could pick was Antaeus by Chanel, which smells more mature (however as a man, young or old, I would wear it in a heartbeat - as long as it's vintage. The current formula smells rubbish).
However, I absolutely do not think any fragrance would make a man smell like he is trying too hard. If you smell good, you smell good. And if you're a man who hates the smell of 'older' fragrances, why not wear something younger? Not everyone wants to do as they're told and smell or act or dress his age
For me, only some of the super sweet gourmands get a bit dicey if you're a mature guy ( eg A*Men, One Million, Dior Homme Intense).
Then again, I'm waiting for a decant of Dior Homme Intense.
Screw it. Wear what you like.

The fact that most young people wear hospital cleaners sold for the price of a perfume should make him reconsider the "young" part.
Nonetheless, fresh and pleasant makes me think about some vetivers: +1 Vetiver extraordinaire by Malle, and Sycomore by Chanel too.
Or, perhaps more perversely, something 15 year old women were supposed to smell like in the 1980s (and don't anymore, enveloped as they now are in pink syrupy clouds): Anais Anais. Contemporary young people will not recognize it and will think it pleasant, fresh and (lacking syrups) masculine.
I agree that you should try Terre d'Hermes, especially the pure parfum but both versions are great. I am an old guy but I can dance the a$$ off most men half my age, so age is not just a chronological thing. There are few scents I won't wear because they smell too young or fresh, but there are some I simply hate and wont wear (i.e. 1 million, Le Male, ADG). But there are some that younger guys wont wear which is a blessing because I really like some of the darker things that seem "old" to some. Let them smell me! LOL! I would suggest that you trust your nose and wear what makes you happy and feel comfortable. Just like the male/female scent debate, the young/old debate is not as important and how one carries off a scent.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
I would say Green Irish Tweed..
well, there are the modern-classics. GIT, Terre d'Hermes, Guerlain Derby, SMW, etc..
My dad wears quite a few interesting fragrances himself and he received more compliments than I Do for some reason. Some of his favorites are Dior Homme intense, Encre Noire, Roadster, M7, Costume National Cologne.
Terre D'Hermes Parfum
D&G The One
Creed Green Irish Tweed
Amouage - Jubilation XXV
Amouage - Epic
MDCI Invasion Barbare
Guerlain - L'instant Extreme
Yet another vote for Terre d'Hermes! I think Noir de Noir also fits the bill.
Original Vetiver. Old Scent with Young Appeal.
Right now I think that I have all the fragrances that I want.
That a fragrance has a particular age range is all in the mind. Wear whatever you want.
I like the idea of Millesime Imperial for what you are looking for. It is a chameleon fragrance of sorts. It seems like a very dressy fragrance when paired with dressy clothes, but, it can also be a relaxed fragrance. It can be worn by young and old alike, but, I think that it portrays a youthful demeanor.
Any scent as long as he enjoys the smell of it.
Terre d'Hermes is still relatively "young" at 5 years old for the edt... It is also quite good. If he needs "younger," then the TdH pure parfum is 3 years old and just as good.
Current Top Favorites:
1) Portrait of a Lady original formula (EdP Frédéric Malle)
2) Giorgio for Men vintage/V.I.P. for Men (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)

4) Lalfeorosa (O'driù) - tie
6) Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio)
7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)

9) Coeur de Vetiver Sacré (L'Artisan) - tie
9) X for Men (Clive Christian) - tie
9) Patou pour Homme Privé (Jean Patou) - tie
9) Oud Shamash (The Different Company) - tie
Designer- Mugler Cologne, Rive Gauche pour Homme, Cartier Roadster, the Baldessarini range, YSL M7, Dior Homme Intense, L'Instant de Guerlain, Very Valentino for Men, Voyage d'Hermes, Versace the Dreamer, Burberry London for Men
Niche- OV, GIT and Royal Water by Creed, Endymion by Penhaligons, the Blu Mediterraneo range by Acqua di Parma
I'd say most anything, except for some of the sickly sweet gourmands and such.
I admit, Terre d'Hermes popped into my mind, it is a very modern dirty vetiver, one of my favorites.
