Default Funky socks - my new thing!

I have to dress pretty conservatively for work and church, but I have recently experimented with "funky" dress socks with my suits and dress clothes. I find that this is a neat way to add some flair and light-heartedness to otherwise sober oufits. Kinda like my little secret! Takes the edge off. I still wear complmentary colors, would never want to badly clash, but I got a compliment fist day out in my Sunday School Class from a fairly well-to-do lady in her 50's. My wife says it's my equivalent of her toe-nail designs/paints. What say you?

Sounds like a great idea. The tie (or he handkerchief, now never used) was the usual instrument for men to add color and zing to an outfit. The socks are perfect too: greens, reds stripes, etc. seem perfect.
(Of course, as a European, I'm not averse to putting colors also on shirts and suits, but that's a different story).

I like red socks and stripy Paul Smith socks.
I agree they are a fun way to add a discreet sartorial flourish

Paul Smith makes some really cool socks! I picked up some Cole Haan and another brand while at TJ Maxx on my lunch break. I got about 6 pair for $19.

Lilac or pale yellow Patherella socks for me when I'm wearing a navy suit.

Striped Corgi socks when I'm in jeans and brogues.

I particularly enjoy argyle socks to add some panache.

Apparently, statement or status socks, be they flashy or flamboyant, are a new trend, especially with the Silicon Valley tech set, and highlighted in a recent, New York Times article.

Yes, I read about flashy socks in GQ and ESQ over the last two years, but just now got the itch for some reason. All serious today, though...I have a board meeting in about an hour. Sober dark grey for now!

When you said 'funky' I thought you meant smelly...LOL. I thought, now why in the world would anyone have a thing with smelly socks? Lol.
