The very best anti-ageing cream is sunscreen - SPF30+ broad spectrum - every day.

Once you've mastered that part of the routine, I'm currently a fan of Men Science Advanced Face Lotion.

    http://www.menscience.com/mens-face-...ion-cream.html

NB: This has AHAs in it, so if you plan to wear this during the day you *must* wear sunscreen on top.

I'm not a big fan of the Lab Series products. The Daily Moisture Defence Lotion is okay however, and it is SPF15, but 15 is not enough; and it is a reasonable price.

I don't know about anti-aging but as far as general skin care goes I have found Aesop & Perricone the two brands I have stuck with for a few years now.

Sid, it pays to take care of your face. I've been doing it for 20 years and it makes a difference.

I had been using some stuff from Zirh called Rejuvenate. But it now seems they are going out of business, or relaunching themselves as a drugstore/grocery store brand to compete with Axe.

But I recently ran into a rep form Skin Authority in my local beauty supply store (yeah, yeah...metrosexuals love their soaps and shaving creams). Anyway, she was pushing their Super C Formula on me. It's pricey ... $92/30ml. I held off and poked around for some reviews online, and saw some good feedback from sites other than theirs.

I'm kind of jazzed about it. Can't believe how good it makes my face look and feel. Don't buy it on my word alone. See if you can sample it. Their web site may indicate a store near you tha carries it. Research it and others. You use it with a moisturizer.

I've tried a lot...a lot... of stuff in this vein, and this is the best I've run into. Most of this skin care like Dr Rudi references above is good in the long term. Start now for benefits in middle age. But this Super C Serum is showing immediate results with me (bear in mind too, I've got a few years on you). You only use a couple of drops, so the 30ml should last awhile.

You cold also try to find that Zirh rejuvenate. I'm sure there are still some in stores as they sell off remaining inventory.

I agree with StylinLA about serums - I use Paula's Choice "Resist" super antioxidant concentrate serum; and I'm also a fan of Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex.

But - seriously - if you are not using SPF30+ everyday, (or at least, as per the UV index where you live) you're wasting time and money on any other product.

Think "prevention is better than cure" - so to stop your skin ageing, don't expose it to 'unsafe' levels of UVA and UVB.

Neutrogena Men Age Fighter Face Moisturizer is good. I've been using it for several years with good results.

Ignore the category 'mens range', it's just a marketing ploy.. Get samples of all the popular womens ranges, if they feel great & go for it. You would want to find high end stuff with natural scents, you dont want to be smelling like you came out of a beauty parlour lol..

I currently using priori eye serum (paid $150 for 30ml from retail store) & face moisturiser (bought sample packs online to test). I will be sticking with the eye serum & testing out another face moisturiser as I like a change up.

Eye serum is your best investment, your eyes are what will keep you looking younger. Spend what you can afford on a high end eye serum ($100+), and compliment it with a face moisturiser (whatever feels good on your skin from a reputable brand)

Don't be scared to ask female who work in stores who sell these products about recommendations.. Again, avoid the 'mens range' tactic, and just tell them you dont care about gender specific products, you just want quality proven products that will work. They should be able to point you to good brands, and the strength of cream/serum you should be using on your skin.. <---- that is important when it comes to anti-ageing stuff, as you can get really potent stuff that your skin wont or shouldn't be introduced to 'yet'.

thanks for the recommendation. it is actually a good advise that I should not be just looking at the men's range.

I am in the east coast and I could not find a skin authority spa or retailer near my area, bummer...

Currently I am using Cetaphil face was and moisturizer. It's pretty inexpensive and does the job. But I would love to use the skin authority c serum. I am of originally from India and hence have a darker skin (read caramel). so I don't know if these products are even geared toward my skin tone.

Also, my wife is using la mer and she like sit but it's pretty expensive. It would be great if we can find something that we both can use.

I also want some recommendation in terms of removing dark spots and making skin fairer. Any recommendations?

I would speak to a dermatologist, they are specialist in the field of skincare & treatments. You could join a beauty forum & post a question there. Once you know what type of product your after, you can purchase it off ebay, plenty of reputable sellers on ebay (authorised sellers) who actually run physical stores. They often have 'salon size' bottles/jars that you wouldn't be able to purchase in a retail store.
Great way to save, especially if you end up sharing. Dermatologist is your best option for professional advice.

There seems to be a new product by YSL, purportedly it really, really works and sells out everywhere, or so I heard.

What are "AHAs"? Why does it require sunscreen on top?

Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) is a chemical exfoliant that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn; and therefore more of the damage you're attempting to avoid or correct, and skin cancer.

I like Every Man Jack face cream with SPF. It isn't greasy, doesn't smell and works great. Oh...and it's dirt cheap.

The best anti-aging application I've ever used is plain old virgin coconut oil. You can find it at GNC or your local health food store. About $12 for a tub. Smells great(like chicks in bikinis) and works wonders. Apply about a tspoonful an hour before bedtime till your face looks glazed and shiny. By the time you get up in the morning it should already be dry. You might have a coconutty scent on your face, but I love it. It's also great for strengthening your teeth when you swish it in your mouth for about 5 minutes in the shower. Try it and let me know how it goes. I'm 50+ and people always tell me I look 29-32 years old...go figure??

Interesting. Wouldn't have thought about using it everyday, but might give it a shot.

I recently started using Paula's Choice products and have been amazed at how effective they are. I have tried many products and lines, but they all fall short to some degree for me. Her anti aging products are a must try. Cleansers, toners, exfoliants and SPF protection are important steps to the anti aging process.

That's what I use, virgin, organic, unprocessed. It's expensive for a culinary oil - $15 for a pint, but really cheap as a moisturizer. I get it at the supermarket. You have to keep it in a warmish place, as it goes solid below room temperature.

I slather it on after a shower. The aroma is delish - but it dissipates pretty fast.

Keeping well-hydrated is good for the skin too.

What the dermatologists are all saying these days is that the best thing is to avoid sun exposure altogether, sunscreen or no sunscreen. Sun=bad in their opinion. I suppose this means we all should be going around like Victorian ladies with big hats, cotton gloves, and parasols. On the other hand, medical researchers are noting that lack of sun exposure is leading to vitamin D deficiency.

I do like to be outdoors but I have always worn a hat outside (something dermatologists also recommend) and avoid a lot of sun exposure until after 3 pm. Fortunately I have always lived fairly far north where the sun is less direct.
