Default Is vintage Perry Ellis being bought up b/c it's similar to By Man?

I've seen vintage Perry Ellis for Men (1985, by Parfums Stern) sell for quite a bit on ebay, unlike a lot of other vintage men's frags. I wore it yesterday, and I was thinking that it seemed awfully close to By Man by D&G. Here is the note pyramid, according to the Estonian site (http://www.parfyym.pri.ee):

Aldehydes, basil, bergamot, fruit notes, galbanum, green notes, lemon, lavender, verbena.

Carnation, jasmine, mandarin, rose, pepper, pimento, cyclamen, thyme.

Amber, benzoin, leather, incense, moss, musk, tonka bean, vanilla, sandalwood, leather, patchouli, opopanax, civet.

This seems accurate. It is quite dense and rich, and while you can tell that some of these notes are present, it's rather blended. Anyone notice this similarity? Note that the new Perry Ellis is a much simpler and different frag, with this (accurate) note pyramid:

    Top Notes
    Bergamot, Galbanum

    Middle Notes
    Rose, Carnation

    Base Notes
    Leather, Moss, Vanilla

I have some made by Stern, Sanofi and Parlux. I'll have to get back to you on the differences.

Rather a vague one at best IMO.
