Exclamation How is it that I'm just now getting around to Rochas Globe?

rickbr sent me Globe in a recent package ( yes Rick.....you're da bomb) and I am dumbfounded because this is not only very good, but it smells very similar to Moschino Pour Homme ( which I like very much).

Moschino has a mace note while Globe does not, but other than that, I find these two directly related. Has anyone else noticed this?

This is a great scent which I am lucky to have. You might still be able to get a hold of a large bottle but it has become increasingly difficult to find.

I`m glad that you enjoyed your samples Aromi
I have tried Moschino Pour Homme, but it was two years ago, and i wasn`t so good in percepting scents at that time, so i don`t have a proper memory of it to compare it to Rochas Globe. All that i remember is that Moschino Pour Homme was a dry woody fragrance on me.
If you loved Globe, it`s popping at the discount stores at this moment. Both fragrancex and fragrancenet have it for not so high prices

Bro, it's very good. Both were released in 1990 and while Moschino has amber and labdanum, the Rochas has only labdanum listed in its accords. They are very similar and as much as I like Moschino, the Rochas is the superior of the two. It's less ambery and a better chypre.

I have noticed that, even on evilbay, there are Globes popping up for decent prices.

That's very kind... but fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you see it) due to this thread I just bought a bottle of it blind.

Globe is fantastic and really doesn't get enough praise. To my nose, the drydown smells similar to vintage Antaeus.

Fyi - You can buy Globe at Parfum1 for a good price.

The only close scent to Globe in my experience is Carlo Corinto.

I've never tried Globe, and I love Carlo Corinto. Carlo Corinto, to me, smells like a pine-based oriental. Does Globe have any pine notes in it? If it does I definitely have to try it.

I just re-applied Globe after reading the Corinto comparison and there is a Corinto-esque aura in the opening for me. I have Moschino going on my right side and Globe on the left.

The Rochas is almost like a cross breed of Moschino and Corinto. I get hints of Corinto the first few minutes, then as the heart comes on, it starts paralleling with the ambery aspects of Moschino. I am liking this scent VERY MUCH.

Killer_Vavoom .......great comparison bro. I would have never thought of CC and as soon as I read your post, I knew you were right.

I wore Globe back in 1994, and the memory of it has pretty much disappeared. My mind tries to reach for the smell again, but I just cant recall it.
I have been meaning to reintroduce myself for months.

I didn't sample it until now mainly because the reviews I read didn't pique my interest. They had me thinking it smelled a certain way, but it really isn't what I thought it would be. I'm still smelling this on my left side and it really is a Corinto-Moschino deal.

The Moschino is still kicking up spice and Mace atop amber while the Globe has a subtle green and amber aura. I like it enough to buy it in the near future. I'm putting it on my list for 2011.

I don't get the comparison. Sybaris is much more herbally warm than Globe.

I found it to be a very good leather chypre with green attributes. Usually scents I have tried that have aromatic openings can be harsh, but Globe was smooth all the way. Good stuff.

Thanks for reminding me. It's warming up down here now - prefect weather for Globe.

Is it safe to say it smells similar to Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme? I found it to be so similar to Antaeus, I sold the Antaeus off as I enjoyed the VCAPH more (these were both vintage formulations).

Not to me Mike. The opening is wormwood & citrus with some aromatics. It's rather smooth too considering the accord.

Just arrived today. First impressions: Smooth aromatic opening over an obvious leather base. Very nice so far; kind of an 80s vibe; it smells like it's going to be pretty loud, but it's actually smooth and attractive. Sillage is a bit strong for the first couple of hours; not overpowering at all. Will have to spend some more time with this one and add a review. So far, thumbs up though!

Bought this today at Parfums de France Tysons corner (they have a couple more bottles)- 100ml glass splash bottle. Intrigued because described as a floral for men, which I like. My nose is tired from all the smelling at the stores. On paper, I get a classic masculine structure, green-herbal-aromatic slightly resiny, brighter than most. Some white florals, but they are really not too prominent (unlike in, say, Insense). I don't sense much leather yet. I'll need to wear it properly.

Wonder if the one I tried was still good. Was fairly weak, and, to me, nothing like Antaeus or VC&A which I both greatly enjoy. I found it interesting enough but not all that attractive and too weak. If I ever come across it again I will have another sniff for sure.
