Default Under the radar (designer) winners

Name the designer fragrance you enjoy that is rarely mentioned on here.

Then explain what you like about it.

    Jacomo for Men (Jacomo Silver)

    - Non-sweet, sharp plum & pineapple notes with a vetiver and slightly powdery base.
    - A masculine oriental that is not outstanding but not boring.
    - Versatile, complex, evolving
    - Smells expensive and unique but is around $25.

    Giorgio for Men

I love it's well-blended amazing mix of patchouli, honey, amber and moss. Amazing potency and sillage. Great stuff. It has been a staple in my wardrobe over 20 years and the Arden re-release delivers the goods.

My usual rec in these circumstances - Adidas Victory League.
Some halfway breed between Boss Bottled and Allure Homme.
Great fruity/spicy oriental at unbeatable prices.

The (older) Cool Water flankers are as good as fruity aquatics get by the way, too.

I'll mention one that is almost never talked about

    Joseph Abboud
Similar in construction to Villoresi's uomo, this is a ballsy and well blended fragrance with citrus aromatics and spices and a big vetiver note. Bracing, no frills and comfortably charismatic.

    Topnote: Lemon, Orange, Basil, Bergamot

Heartnote: Jasmine, Violet, Ginger, Thyme, Camomile, Black Pepper

Basenote: Cardamom, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Musk, Ambergris

Cerruti pour homme - elegant, spicy, sexy yet kind of formal

Azzaro silver black - very aromatic, sort of quite smoky, very masculine and serious

Lancome Hypnose Homme - spicy, sort of grassy almost fahrenheit vibe

Carolina Hererra Chic for men - spicy, fresh but heavy at the same time, works wonders in winter and in summer too.

Givenchy very irresistible for men - slightly gourmand like, sensual and radiant

Davidoff Relax- s spicy, understated, elegant powerhouse, strong and manly yet with a surprisingly clean vibe, at the same time, much less airy-aquatic than Cool Water

I would like to recommend Aqaba for Men. Named after the beautiful Red Sea resort city in Jordan.
    This is from Miriam Mirani.

    Top-Cognac, Lemon
    Mid-white flowers, green notes
    Base-Sandalwood and Leather

A wonderful mens fragrance that starts with a boozy citrus note. Over time it mellows and gets warmer and darker with the leather note. The white flowers and green notes provide the balance between the citrus and booze and the leather notes.
    Really nice fragrance.

F pour Homme Black by Salvatore Ferragamo never ever gets mentioned. A smooth and I think sexy and simple fragrance with Lavender, Black Pepper, Coriander, Labdanum and Tonka. I am bored of all the scents at Macy's but I always go to this one and take a whiff. I really like it and keep thinking I should buy this one but never have. Of all the designer scents out there this one seems to have slipped under the radar.

I completely agree, F Black is very sexy and seductive.

I thought F Black had a cheap synthetic plastic smell which ruined it for me.

Quiksilver is a very good aquatic-cum-sandalwood. The aquatic accord is very strong initially but soon settles down and the sandalwood (Australian) is unusually potent and long-lasting.

+ 1 for Davidoff Relax - mysterious, resinous, long lasting and unique.
+ 1 for Azzaro Silver Black/Onyx - a bit dark, a bit retro, sweet and aromatic (& really cheap!).

I also have a huge soft spot for Z Zegna. I like the top fruit note and the lasting gentle undercurrent of menthol that keeps this different from the usual fare.

Oops! I forgot to mention my absolute favourite 'under the radar' scent - Python Uomo Trussardi.

This is about the most unique fragrance in my whole collection. Nothing really resembles it. It sort of sweet, but its dry too. It has this most unusual note which I think is fig tree bark. It's really worth seeking this one out.

Eau Parfumée au Thé Rouge by Bulgari -
The "Thé Vert" version is much more discussed here and there, but this one is underrated.
The opening notes are truly amazing in the way they transcribe a pure and real smell of rich tea. That's strong and actually my fav' part of it. Then it becomes a bit more "flowery", peppery and at this point, I find it would suit a woman better, but the drydown is much more unisex to my nose, with a delicious soft musk mixed with the last hints of tea. Summery feeling !
Another good point, it's marketed as an EdC, but it lasts such a long time that I can't really believe it, at least as long as all my EdT's if not more.

I'm going to stick with Stella by Stella McCartney. It's a scent marketed at women, but it's a very light, effervescent rose scent that's very wearable for guys. I think I like it a lot because it's opposite in character to something loud like Black Oud and Noir de Noir and it has a sparkling character that lets it stand out from softer roses like Rose Ikebana.
