Wink From this list : Which L'Artisan should I buy as my 1st bottle ?

These are what available in the store I am going to visite.

NOTE : I am going to buy Five O'Clock Au Gingembre because I love ginger, I think Tea for Two is too close to it.

    Batucada

    Bois Farine

    Coeur de Vetiver Sacre

    Drole de Rose

    Dzongkha

    Fleur de Liane

    L’Ete en Douce

    La Chasse aux Papillons

    La Chasse aux Papillons Extreme

    L'Eau d'Ambre

    L'eau de L'Artisan

    Mechant Loup

    Mimosa Pour Moi

    Mure et Musc

    Mure et Musc Extreme

    Premier Figuier

    Premier Figuier Extreme

    Tea for Two

    The Pour Un Ete

    Traversee du Bosphore

    Valuer de Roses

Vanille Absolutement (formerly know as 'Havana Vanille')

    Verte Violette

By the way, their online shop added 2 more scents today!

    Passage D'Enfer

    Timbuktu

    Now I am interest in

    - Bois Farine - I heard that it uses a wood that smell like bread. (bready nutty sweet iris and woods)

    - Dzongkha --I heard it smell like Buddhist temple, I also have CDG Incense Kyoto

    - Tea for Two --I want to know why it is do popular on BN, but it seems close to FOAG

    - Traversee du Bosphore --I love goumand

    - Vanille Absolutement --the notes seems interesting

    Condition
    1. Great longevity
    2. No floral + no feminine
    3. Cloying free

I am not looking for any note, I just want a new scent.

You're too much in a hurry.

Roma wasn't built in a day.

I foresee a few regretted purchase at this rate.

I say this because like Serge Lutens, L'Artisan Parfumeur is a very intricate and complex house.

Have you smelled any of these? These aren't scents that you smell on a strip and buy immediately because they evolve so much.

    for swap/sale:

    Thanks for the warning.

I am pretty sure about Serge Lulens FOAG, I have enjoyed the sample a lot.

I am quit worry about L'Artisan, but I will smell it, then spray the one I like the most on my skin, leave the shop and continue doing doing other activities.

I have did that before I bought 4 bottles of SL which I like all of them, I wait a few days before I decide if it is FBW.

Buying L'Artisan is harder because I only stay in Tokyo for 2 days so I need to decide if that scent is FBW the next day which is risky.

No Timbuktu? No Dzing? No Safran Troublant? These are my favorites. Timbuktu is a woody incensy, very radiant and persistent, but not as literal as Dzongka. Dzing is a dirty leather. Safran Troublant a creamy saffron.

In the set you propose, I'd say Dzongka, which does indeed smell like a temple.

Those are what available in the store online shop, but it is possible that the actual store has more scents.

Timbuktu, a radiant, dark fragrance, is my first choice; however, if that gem is not available, then Vanille Absolument, a fascinating, dark triumvirate of vanilla, incense and tabacco ...

If you are definitely going to buy FOAG can they give you several different samples of the LArtisans to take back home and decide over time. Like Hedonist said, these houses are so complex that you should take time w each scent. It took me 2 months to decide on my first(of many more to come) SL.

Or just get Tea for Two. I find it very different from FOAG.

The problem is SL counter is in Men building while L'Artisan is in the main building of Isetan Shinjuku, but I will try to ask the SA for Samples. I also do not want to buy anything before I try.

Anyway, L'Artisan is not available here so if I import it here, I must pay a lot of duty. I was ordered Elemental Case Vapor Pro for my iPhone4 and the duty costed me to pay double the price for that case which is more expensive than a bottle of niche.

So now I need to make a decision.

    1. Pay regular price for what I might found that I might not quit like it as a full wear.

    2. Pay double price for what I tested to see if it is for me.

Anyway, I am planning to take Master Degree in Politics or Public Administration in USA so I might buy it when I got there, if I choose choice no. 2.

Maybe you can live on samples for a while. If you come to the US you will probably pay much less than in Japan, if that matters to you at all. While you are there if you find one that you know you love though you should pick it up. That is what vacations are all about right? bringing home exotic gifts from foreign lands...
