    Default Tobacco Vanille Batch Variations

Any reports on this? I got a sample of TV from TPC about a year ago, and it was pretty abrasive on my skin. Fast forward to this week and camdavis38 surprised me with a vial of TV in our trade. His sample is much more wearable, very pleasant actually! I figured maybe my tastes changed in the last year so I broke out my TPC sample for another try... same abrasive scent I got the first time. It's clearly TV in both vials, but one is just borderline offensive while the other is softer and more pleasant. Anyone experience this with TV?

PS - I'm not a paranoid freak, I have three different Aventus batches and they all smell identical. I really think there's some possible issues with Tobacco Vanille.

Evaporation or oxidation in the TPC sample possibly? I've heard other accounts of decants going like this too. I personally haven't noticed a difference between my sample and the bottle, but my bottle is from a few years back.

I suggest trying to avoid top notes and compare base notes. Apply to your leg, a few inches above the ankle, then walk away and come back to it an hour later. Then you can waft it up from each leg. This way, you can tell if it's just bad top notes.

I tested T-V for the first time this summer in Paris. The S-A just dipped a paper-strip down in a big 250ml bottle. Last week I bought a new bottle of T-V, and as I can remember the scent from the 250ml "tester" bottle was a bit more soft. The T-V I bought seems a bit more strong, spicy, and the opening is more "brutal". Actualy the top notes reminds me a bit of Diptyques Eau Lente. Great stuff in any case!

First time I tried this it was like a very strong candied tobacco sweet available when I was a kid - not what I wanted to smell of. Bought a bottle from a friend at a price I could not refuse. This is or appears to be much weaker (relative, remember) but much more rounded tobacco and vanilla and fruits - beautiful. And still very potent.

If you meant dried fruit, then I agree; I get some in the dry down.

Interesting... I just ordered the 3.4oz on xmas, I'll be so disappointed if it's the abrasive version like my TPC sample.

I just got 100ml bottle for Christmas. To be honest I was slightly underwhelmed. This is not the brutal silage monster I was expecting. It's rather soft and restrained, although dense. Still, it's really nice.

It's very smooth, with a milky texture. With the Vanilla being the most prominent. Still trying to decide whether I like it more than Back to Black By Kilian.

From what I've experienced there are two very distinctively different TF Tobacco Vanille.

The early sample I've got from a bottle where the ingredients are etched into the back of the box its got nuclear sillage, Very abhorrant too strong and incredibly linear. I don't enjoy it and its one of the few fragrances that will illecit a genuine damn this stinks from people around you. (I've been banned from wearing it in the house and I'm NOT joking)

The modern stuff I've been splitting recently has the ingredients on a sticker on the back of the box, You can almost taste the cherry tobacco, Its much better blended more composed and is overall a much better quality scent than the early sample. Its still dense but it won't blow your head off like the other.

I was also in the same boat. I couldn't decide whether to get Killian's BTB or Tom Ford's TV. But I ended up getting TV

I get great longevity and a very nice/creamy dry down. It was my scent of the day a couple times last week.

I prefer TV. Not a fan of BtB's sharp tobacco note.

now I gotta wonder if my Tuscan Leather TPC sample was an old batch too as I get weird e-looks from most of you when I say it's unwearable.

I like TL, but for me it's not wearable too often.it doesn't stink, but it's strong.

So its safe to say if one was to order a bottle you would get the tamed down version that is a bit more wearable? This is something i'm probably more interested in..

I'm wearing a sample i received from Neimens and the longevity is great but it is by no means a projection monster, defintely a hell of a lot more wearable than what i expected from the reviews i read about it being "monstrous"

My bottle's serial number is C68, which according to checkcosmetic.net is from June 2008. Last time I wore it was on Thanksgiving. I tried to do two full sprays on my neck's pulse points for the first time (I usually only do half sprays), just so it'd stand through the foods' aroma, and it was too much and gave me headache for the first couple of hours.
