Yes, it's beautiful isn't it.
Thread: Ambre 114 appreciation thread
I have never said this since I joined BN but this comes as close to Holy Grail material as I have experienced. Not in the way that it exceeds all other fragranes qualitywise or regarding uniqueness but rather that I have been craving it without a break for two weeks straight now and cannot figure out why.
I dont get it myself, I sampled this 2 years ago and dismissed it as mediocre.
Gave the sample to a friend, who loved it and I finally got a bottle for him.
Friend became flat mate and I couldnt get around how awesome that Ambre 114 smelled.
Long story short it's at the top of my to buy list.
I love Ambre Sultan for a herbaccious amber.
I love my french amber for an ambery amber.
I love AMbre Russe for a boozy amber.
But this reaches a spot inside of me the others cant seem to.
Yes, it's beautiful isn't it.
Have those in your list and agree with you. They all have their place in the "amber pantheon".
It's my favorite amber scent. The vetiver and rose elevate it to a higher level than just an another amber.
I love Ambre Precieux, Ambre Fetiche, L'Eau d'Ambre Extreme...but Ambre 114 is my favourite amber fragrance. I have sampled it for a while and when I buy the full bottle, it will certainly be my one and only amber perfume.
@ Timaru : "But this reaches a spot inside of me the others cant seem to." + 1
I really like it, but I feel that they took too many footnotes from Ambre Sultan to make it distance itself too distinctly from the Lutens' one. Fantastic none the less, but the win still goes to Ambre Sultan for me.

Amber superfan right here but I'm annoyingly yet to try this.
Have you seen these cool 2 oz. 1/2 bottles that Hd'P have released? So cool!
Just ordered six 2ml samples from HdP online, including Ambre 114 (only 10 euro and free delivery). Really looking forward to trying this, especially given the many positive comments.
Have not seen these 2.5 oz bottles around so far!
Love Ambre 114. Extremely refined and, most of all, one of the easiest to wear and most versatile ambers around...
@Kevin: Amazing little bottles. I own Tubereuse 3 and Petroleum in that format...
@ PM, I dont get it.
Then again sometimes he posts pictures just for the heck of it, and it could have no meaning. Anyway, 114 is solid stuff.
lol I thought he meant "coming out" or somethin.
To be fair that sentence does sound like a princess talking about her favourite unicorn
Amongst other things.
I am also a big fan of 114, HdP is a very interesting house. To me this is one of the premiere ambers around. If you want to try something new in amber try Ambr'ero from Cerchi Nell'Acqua. Its quite a find.
My mom's great. I appreciate her sense of humor, patience and fondness for daytime drinking. :0)
Oh, and this is on the wish list. The wee half bottles are great. I have 1876 (Mata Hari) in that size. Another rose for the boys!?

It is a beautiful fragrance, to be sure. My favourite of what I have tried of the line - 1725 also coming quite high. I am looking forward to trying Moulin Rouge.
Hello, Ambre 114 lovers. The Christmas action on the website of HdP is still continuing. There is a 14 ml. spray as a Christmas gift to any purchase. I have just ordered Moulin Rouge.
@ Duke Hunt : Moulin Rouge and L'Ombre Fauve are not similar at all to my nose. Yes, they both have fur, patchouli and musc, though Moulin Rouge is with tangerine, plum, damask rose and iris , a floral/fruity fragrance, and is less warm than L'Ombre Fauve, which I also love and own.
It's my favorite amber too.

Amazing fragrance! I have tried it 2 days ago and I must say I'm imperssed.
I'm a fan as well a really nice ambre.
Just pulled the trigger on this, a friend is decanting it. Lets see how it does.
Hmm... I hate to spoil the party, but I'm not really all that taken with Ambre 114. It's a nice enough fragrance, sure - but, come on, it totally rips off Ambre Précieux and adds to the MPG masterpiece only some kind of weird lipstick note that I don't care for at all... Sorry, no, I'm not on board here...
Yes, it is similar to Ambre Precieux but better blended (in my opinion). Ambre Precieux is 50/50 vanilla/amber, and Ambre 114 is better blended, it is much harder to detect ingredients
I'm scared to try this after loathing Ambre Sultan. Are there any similarities? I cannot take the herbal notes in AS.
My current top ten:
1. Spice and Wood
2. Noir De Noir
3. Musc Ravageur
4. Bois D'Argent
5. Aoud 1
8. Dior Homme Intense
9. Tobacco Vanille
Big fan right here! It's my favorite amber scent
Ambre 114 is pretty different from Ambre Sultan other than being another amber scent. I wouldn't let AS put you off all ambers.
Something close to Ambre Sultan without the herbs is TF Amber Absolute. I find it very similar except it replaces the herbs with incense.
One of my favorite Ambers.
