    Default Everyday winter fragrence?

2011 has been my first year wearing cologne (I'm still at school) and I have become obsessed over the summer. Summer fragrances for school are easy because you can just choose something nice and fresh (My personal favorite being L'Eau D'Issey) but I am finding winter more challenging. I need something that will last all day in cold weather but not project like a monster. Any suggestions??

Egoiste EDT -- Don't be fooled by its release date; it's a modern classic masculine fragrance.

Gucci pour homme 2 fits your description perfectly, perfect fall winter frag that has a great smell and it def not a projection beast some people might have longevity issues though, Boss bottled also would be great, i wouldrecommend fahrenheit but it projects like a monster.

body kouros , it's very balsamic, I discovered it one day because I started to shout and blame some friends about where did they get their samples and I found that BK relaxed me. ( I was kind of a a destructive beast)

LE MALE by JPG it sounds like your style and it projects like crazy. I haven't come across anything quite as strong.

edit: I misread I thought you wanted "a projection monster" le male is still good if you go easy on the trigger winter fragrances need to project more anyway

Being young and (presumably) on a limited budget, Burberry London might work for you. If you want something more traditional, New York by de Nicolai would give you a woody oriental with considerable longevity and minimal projection. And if you are adventurous and value something nobody else will be wearing, consider 1903 by J. Peterman -- don't let the name throw you, it's a very modern blend of fresh greens on a base of leather, tobacco and frankincense.

Anything by Burberry but especially London as it has Holiday written all over it. I agree with the Tom Ford private collection (especially Tobacco Vanille as it is absolutely heavenly, but for somebody at school that may be a bit too $$$. However if price is no object, then how about Creed Himalaya? Rive Gauche and Prada Amber pour homme would be good as well. I also agree with Le Male and I'll throw in some Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme pre-reformulation. Also good for a budget, Old Spice. Don't laugh, it smells great and if you don't tell anyone what it is, they'll think so too! And Last but certainly first, I'll say Versace the Dreamer b/c it is sexy, lasts 12 hours easy, and girls will swoon.

To make it easier if you're skimming these:

    - Versace The Dreamer
    - Burberry London (and all others except The Beat)
    - Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille (and the rest of the private collection if $$$ is no object)
    - Creed Himalaya
    - Rive Gauche
    - Prada Amber Pour Homme
    - Le Male
    - Dolce & Gabbana pour homme (vintage formulation, aka bottle with the sticker on the front)
    - Old Spice (Yes, I'm serious!)
"I am a robot and I like cheese"

    Top 5:
    1. Axe Kilo
    2. Lectric Shave
    3. Vicks Vapor Rub
    4. Febreze Pour Homme
    5. Preferred Stock

Play by Givenchy - Citrus abounds in the opening, with bergamot, mandarin orange, bitter orange and grapefruit. This wonderful interplay of semi-sweet and semi-bitter flavors, with an undercurrent of woods, is refreshing. The wrestling of the citrus and wood tumbles to its middle. The spicy heart usurps the citrus opening with its pepper, amyris wood and coffee flower, forming a musky, spicy and woody radiance, arousing a sexy aura. The oft-seen patchouli and vetiver base blends with the heart nicely, mellowing the woods and spice, and leads to its alluring drydown. This is a well balanced composition, and has very good longevity and projection.

Chanel Egoiste, which I've been wearing these past two days, seem appropriate. Sandalwoody, slightly sweet, persistent but not excessively projecting. (Note: the regular Egoiste, not Platinum egoiste)

When I was still at school the only frag I wore (if memory serves right) was Givenchy Gentleman. That lasts all day yet didn't attract opprobrium. I would sample before purchasing however, as I am talking about the 1980s here. The competing scents were somewhat louder than today's popular sweet n'fruity efforts

It gets little press around here because Perry Ellis has done its fair share of copying other scents (while selling them for way less), but 360 Black is just perfect for winter. Not nearly as sweet as to be overbearing for everyday wear (like A*men & Rochas are IMO). It also has a spicy edge to it that I've never smelled before in a men's fragrance. I think it is due to the note called "tamarind vine". Sillage and longevity are perfect. The only "problem" with 360 black is that it does give an on the prowl impression so I don't recommend it for work.

And if you're not afraid of an old-school scent, PS by Paul Sebastian is wonderful. But one spray max.

Considering you can buy a big bottle of either for under $25 its a can't miss.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I've been interested in Le Male or quite a while and i'm probably the only person on here who hasn't given it a smell. Is it too heavy for school? Some say save it for more special occasions.

Heh, back in the day I used to use Le Male for school, not being into frags back then I guess I must've gotten it as a present when it was new and just released.

Anyway, it worked then, I guess it would work today. The only problem with Le Male is that it has been used for ~16 years and a lot of people know it very well.

There are other options out there that might be a bit more interesting at this point. It's a nice smell though.

I have to agree with Body Kouros, it's warm and can calm down even a redneck on steroids.
Montale Blue Amber is another one I'd recommend. Heritage by Guerlain, another good one.
