Thread: Le Male vs Angel Men
Im interested in Basenoters opinions on which out of the 2 are the best???
The better smell,longevity,projection etc....
Also i haven't tried Angel men and might blind buy it thanks to the good reviews..

From this, Le Male, but based strictly on fragrance notes, while Angel might last and project longer, it never really suited my taste
smell - le male is easier to be liked while amen is heavier and requires more taste
longevity and projection - amen but le male is no chump
I like both but I prefer A*Men.
- A lot of people thinks that they live when the only thing they do is simply exist.
A*Men. Both are sillage monsters.
I used to think Le Male was the strongest, longest lasting cologne I've ever smelled. Then I tried A*Men.
"I am a robot and I like cheese"
1. Axe Kilo
2. Lectric Shave
3. Vicks Vapor Rub
4. Febreze Pour Homme
5. Preferred Stock
I want to like A*Men but simply find it too cloying and sickly. Sampled it numerous times to try and ascertain what I'm missing, but simply end up with a headache.
Which out of the 2 gets the most compliments (for you basenoters )???
Both are great and I think you should own both. I would buy A*Men first.
Both are great, but Le Male, unfortunately is overworn in my premesis. I chose A*men on account that everyone, and I mean everyone, wears Le Male.
I enjoy them both for different reasons. I've really come around to enjoy A*Men, esp now that it is colder, whilst Le Male is surprisingly fun to wear (even though it is terribly popular, its main downside). If I could keep only 1 it would be A*Men though.
A*men is far better, but try to get some samples off eBay for it is one of the most unsafe blind buys out there.
I like both and have both but I prefer A* Men.
I voted for Le Male, just because I'm sick of it just a little less than Angel Men. I think both of them are a bit over played. I never really cared much for either to be quite honest.

Le Male. A*men is just too much like a pastry shop. I never got that...wanting to smell like coffee and food.
A*Men. i can't stand LeMale. it smells good but it doesn't excite me. also IMO it is overrated like Acqua di Gio
I own and love both and they are both weekly staples in the winter for me. I'm not sure I could choose one over the other. For me, it just depends on what kind of mood I'm in that day. I highly recommend both though, and you can't go wrong with either.
A*Men, but don`t blind buy it.
Own and like both.
Remembering sniffing Le Male for the first time in '97. Stressed to get it because i found it outstanding and thought that everybody would want it. It's so easy to recognice that I wanted people to smell it on ME, like 'I got to it first', before it became too common...
Because of this, I prefer to wear A*Men.
Current favorite: Chanel Bois des Iles
can i choose both. LOL
Buy Le Male, pass on the Amen, with the cash saved from skipping Amen purchase Rochas Man. RM has the same kind of feel, is a safer blind buy, has a nice inoffencive quality blend, and has good projection. I find RM more refined than Amen...personally.
I like both, but really overdid it on Le Male years ago; by default I now prefer Amen
Both are great.
Both are staples in my collection.
But A*Men gets the nod here.

Amen, I use to hate it now I love it-go figure. The drydown is amazing..
A*Men. I think most people react positively to it. I was a skeptic at first - thought it was too sweet. But the first time I wore it, my wife loved it. It was like catnip to a kitten. Its a bit rough for about the 1st hour due to the "tar" note I suppose, but the long dry down is very nice.
I didn't vote because I wouldn't be without either of them.
I hate both but prefer a*men
A*Men smelled like harsh chemicals to me so I had to scrub it off before drydown. However, I'm more sensitive to chemicals than most people. I like Le Male but don't own it. I think it is safer and more versatile (if sprayed lightly). And versatility is a big factor for me.
"You do not merely want to be considered just the best of the best. You want to be considered the only ones who do what you do." J.G.
I own both of these. I just got my A*Men this morning actually, I blind bought it.
First impressions - I always smell the inside of the box and this one smelled lovely, like cookie dough or something. Very nice. I just sprayed it once on my hand, first reaction was 'wow, the guys on Basenotes weren't lying about the dark opening'. I can definitely smell it. Very dark and strong.
Le Male I like as it's quite linear but easily likeable and a beast on projection and sillage. If I had to choose one, so far I'd go for Le Male. Will report back when I've had a chance to experience the drydown of A*Men.
That tar note in A*Men is starting to get to me...
spray according will help the harshness
i voted a*men, but don't blind buy it! why should you? it's widely available in drugstores and they have usually testers.
Angel for me all the way!!!
The drydown of Angel Men is very nice.
Prefer Le Male though.
Also when you buy the refills, how do you put them in your flask?
I have both, like both, and probably prefer A*men..........but I find Le Male to be more versatile.
I've never seen a metal one first hand but I have seen photos of one split open. They split in half front-back somehow to replace the glass bottle inside.

Let's hope it's a fight to the death as I can't stand either.
Mine must have already been opened before I got it because it snaps in and out pretty easily. I think it's glued and you have to crack the glue seal to separate the bottom the first time you open it. Maybe if you pry carefully at the seam with a small knife or screwdriver?
Has anyone reading ever opened a Mugler rubber flask for the first time?
I just managed it. Took about 10 minutes, I had to use a lot of force and my house keys (slipped once and stabbed myself, bled a little) but it's all sorted now.
If I buy any more Mugler fragrances I'll try to get the metal flask.
Angel Men hands down. Le Male is, in a word, nasty. Angel Men, if worn correctly (meaning sparingly) can make a great daytime fragrance. In low dosages, the scent comes off as clean and fresh in the dry down. The shower gel, from what I remember (used about six years ago) was great. For a department store fragrance, it is fairly unique and well-made. Sillage is good.
As far as Le Male, I consider it the "Poison" of the male fragrance world: brash, gaudy, outdated, and nauseating. Save a friend or loved one, and do NOT wear it!!
Angel Men by a mile. Cuba Gold can be bought for $5 and is waaaaay better then Le Male.
A*Men in a one-sided beatdown. Not close.

I don't like Le Male, but I love A*Men.
