Default Egoiste, terre d'hermes, Dior pour homme

All 3 get rave reviews but which have been badly affected by reformulations? Which is the best out of all 3 to buy? I'm looking for long lasting, great projection, and unique

As far as I know, only Dior Homme has been reformulated. That being said, I think the fragrance you're looking for is TdH. It's unique, long lasting and projects like crazy. It also smells great.

I think all three of the fragrances you mentioned are great though. The most modern smelling one would be TdH, followed by Dior Homme. Egoiste is fantastic, but I find it a bit dated.

Thanks for the advice, is their different versions of egoiste? A platinum version? I'll probably get all 3 but that lipstick note is putting me right off Dior

Terre d'Hermes is my favorite scent, so of course, that is the one I recommend. The other two are loved by many here as well, but I confess neither of them interested me much.
    Current Top Favorites:
    1) Portrait of a Lady original formula (EdP Frédéric Malle)
    2) Giorgio for Men vintage/V.I.P. for Men (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
    3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
    4)
Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz) - tie
    4) Lalfeorosa (O'driù) - tie

    6)
Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio)
    7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
    8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)
    9) Javanese Patchouli (Zegna) - tie
    9) Monsieur de Givenchy vintage (Givenchy) - tie
    9) Coeur de Vetiver Sacré (L'Artisan) - tie
    9) Polo vintage (Ralph Lauren) - tie
    9) Patou pour Homme Privé (Jean Patou) - tie
    9) Oud Shamash (The Different Company) - tie

All three are worth trying, different from each other, and talked about around here a lot. So I would say try all three.

I personally love Egoiste and Dior Homme, Terre d'Hermes is good but I don't reach for it a lot. Egoiste is the one I wear the most. Platinum Egoiste is a totally different scent but also worth trying in my opinion.

    Egoiste EDT vintage (yellow juice)

Egoiste EDT reformulated (clear juice; not as heavy as the vintage, but still lasts 8+ hours on my skin)

Egoiste Cologne Concentree (smoothest of the three with more prominent rose note; very hard to find)

Platinum Egoiste is a totally different fragrance, which I'm not really a fan of; but it's not that bad.

I love Dior Homme (sweet, unique, sophisticated, elegant), like Terre d'Hermes (masculine, modern but still unique) and dislike Egoiste (dated to me).

Get dior homme intense. I love dior homme (vintage) but the new dior homme has very poor projection/longevity.

Terre d'Hermes - The opening of this very unique fragrance treats one to a mild splatter of sparkling, dry grapefruit and orange, with a metallic, clean flavor lightly dancing in that citrus duet. This wonderful opening expertly transitions into its evocative heart, where a slightly peppery and arid cedar, with a wiff of pachouli, and a flickering of something floral begins to simmer. This earthy woodiness is masterfully blended with the warm sweetness of benzoin, and flashes of bitterness from the vetiver, to form its satisfying, outdoorsy base. This sophisticated and distinctive fragrance should be a welcomed addition to one's repertoire. It's an all-season EDT, and has excellent projection and longevity.

Dior Homme and Chanel Égoïste are two of my most-loved fragrances. Both are well worth spending time to get to know. I didn't like Dior Homme at first, but now I think it's masterful, and not quite like anything else. For what it's worth, it's been reformulated TWICE, and it's only the FIRST reformulation that got quieter. The latest version is excellent and lasts all day easily (I have the original vintage version to compare it with directly).

I know a lot of people love Terre d'Hermes, and I've liked it when I've smelled it on others, but whenever I've tried it myself I feel as if I'm being suffocated. I normally like vetiver, but here it attacks in some sort of overdose-conspiracy with Iso-E-Super or something and is just too much. As with anything else, give it a good try before you buy.

The problem with TdH is the Iso E Super which is not such a good idea. I honestly do not accept to smell fake synthetic wood on my skin or clothes. TdH it's like the Bleu of Chanel they use the prestige they have to mass market those products to new worldwide markets + they sell the real fancy stuff in a different collection for instance Hermes have Hermessence and Chanel Les Exclusifs. This was not the case in the past for Chanel it started with Platinum Egoiste and in my opinion it started with TdH for Hermes. I honestly had the TdH EdP next to Hermes Bel Ami and Bel Ami was a billion times greater than TdH EdP it smelled natural you can actually notice and feel the quality of the ingredients they use. I'm not blasting TdH but if they want to sell hundred of thousand of bottles they need to use synthetic stuff.

Same for me. I even taught that Ellena goal was to create the first ''genetically modified fragrance'' for mass consumption.

TDH is fragrance artistry, and I appreciate art even if I don't necessarily like it which I do, but I do appreciate Egoiste for a 22yr old scent to be in contention with two modern masterpiece

I'm faced with this decision just today. I liked Dior Pour Homme at first try, but since reading reviews on it, I just can't escape that lipstick smell.

For my birthday today I sent my wife out with a list, and asked her to choose the one she liked the best (Bvlgari Man, Terre d'Hermes, Jil Sander Man). I was going to buy Egoiste for myself, and I was convinced my wife would bring back T d'H. Well - she chose the Bvlgari (which I'm really happy about), but it's left me having to decide between the Chanel and the Hermes.

With Egoiste, I find the dry down almost too complex at times. There is a startling spicyness to the topnotes that I find a touch overwhelming, but that gorgeous cinnamon basenote takes some beating. I love it and it lasts forever on my skin. Never experienced anything like it before.

T d'H has the most amazing, sophisticated dry down, at least to my nose. It reveals something different every hour and also lasts a long long time on me. The base is not as alluring as Egoiste to my nose, but I enjoy the journey more. Which to get? I have no freaking idea!

OP - have you decided yourself?
