    Default Mona Di Orio Oud

I am sitting here with 8% battery left and not wanting to plug in. 9:25PM and it's 55 degrees outside. I grab my generous sample (provided by the scentbar) and smooth some out on the back of my hand like Scarface would for a line.

...and im thinkin'... if only the world should smell like this.

I have yet to find a better oud than Mona's. Not that I am tempted to look further now that I have found it (and after all the bitter let downs by Montale, Kilian and JHAG).

An absolutely sublime work of art. It really has rasied the bar to a level I'm not sure will be surpassed.

I found one - Oud Luban by Aftelier Perfumes

    http://www.aftelier.com/oud-luban-solid.html

Oud Luban is very nice and easy on the nose like Mona's - less pretty with more oomph. In the end I know I would be bored with Mona's Oud after 5ml. Mona worked so hard at making Oud a wearable fragrance - it really ended up be too boring to wear very often.

Those two are too synthetic - hence the stinky oud smell.

I haven't tried Mona's Oud, unfortunately, although I've heard many great things about it. There are three that come to mind that I really enjoy, however: Bond's Swarovski Oud, Roja Dove Aoud, and AbdesSalaam Attar (Profumo.it) Oud Caravan.
Currently looking for Ava Luxe Midnight Violet

    Bump

I have a generous 3ml sample of this and I tried it last night and I'm a bit lost for words how to describe it.

I get a strong osmanthus which is a sweet floral flower with a hint of civet in the background. It seems to stay like that for many hours until you get too the basenotes then it changes. I think this is wear the Oud comes in but I have no words how to descibe it. It seems like a musky ambergris note.

It smells nice but totally new to my nose and I am at a loss what to think.

Just bought the full bottle of this after sampling; a beautiful scent that is worth every penny. The way that I see it, it's £350 well spent as it will more than likely last me a lifetime.

Shoutout for an awesome review. I love the experience of being at a loss because of the newness of something. I had this experience with Caravelle Epicee and Invasion Barbare.
