Default Summer scents / Winter scents / Anytime scents

How do you determine which fragrance is suitable for which season? I have a rough idea of what might be appropriate for summer and winter, but I have no idea how to logically categorize them.

Here is my guess for the appropriate season for some of mine. Do you agree? If not, how would you place them?

    Summer
    Acqua di Giò pour Homme
Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue pour Homme
    Horizon
    Jacomo de Jacomo Rouge
    Guerlain Vetiver
    Antonio Banderas Diavolo
    Intimately Beckham Men
    Creed Virgin Island Water

    Winter
    Timbuktu
    Polo Explorer
    Gucci pour Homme
    Antaeus

    Anytime
    Sycomore
    Invasion Barbare
    Habit Rouge
    Aventus
    Creed Green Irish Tweed
    Platinum Égoïste
    Creed Millesime Imperial
    Creed Original Santal

I tend to save the really heavy fragrances for colder weather. It doesn't matter if it's summer or winter. It can be 65 degrees in summer just like it can be 65 degrees in winter, especially in states like California. Fragrances like Rochas Man, Angel Men, and other darker and sweeter fragrances can be cloying and annoying to people when it's hot out. I would say that Platinum Egoiste (one of my favorites), is a great all around scent because it isn't really heavy, so it can be used in warmer weather. At the same time, its projection would be able to cut through colder weather.

I personally wear whatever fragrance I like whenever I feel like wearing it - day, night, summer, winter, etc. If others choose to segregate their fragrances, then that is certainly their prerogative.

Many people choose to categorize their fragrances by season. I fall into the other large group of people who doesn't.

There are no season scents. There are only scents. Yes some scents that are more suitable for summer light citrus/aquatics and some more appropriate for winter pungent orientals/gourmands etc. Personally i don't classify them to season, i just wear what i like/suits the occasion.

This. Although I could see something like Virgin Island Water being appropriate for summer wear.

Wow at the comments.. Now we have located the people wearing Tobacco Vanille, Pure Malt and 1 Million on a Hot Summer day, stinking up the place.. Fragrance police we need some people arrested! LOL!!

    Hot weather - light
    Cold weather - heavy

There are some that I wear either time of year, like Havana and Tuscany

There are some general received idea, some basic rules, but lately I found out that any scent can be worn during any season, any time of the year

I agree with petruccijc. I have been known to spritz Ambre Sultan lightly on a summer evening out as well. By the way, you're missing out on your Timbuktu in warmer weather; it really blooms!

I subscribe to the notion that all scents can work fine in winter whilst there are some scents that I would not wear in summer (Rochas Man, Angel Men, etc)

Although I understand the 'anything goes' approach, I personally feel that certain of my scents are strongly suited to particular seasons. The majority of the time, I follow that feeling, although not always. However like so much about this hobby, it's not set in stone. It's totally up to you regards what suits when.
