Default Bes knockoffs or similar frags to insanely high-priced frags

So let's say I want a less expensive fragrance that is very similar to the following:

    Knize Ten
    Green Irish Tweed
    Guerlain Derby
    Calvin (original)
    Ralph Lauren Purple Label

What would you, the experts, recommend?

By the way, I meant "best," not bes. Ugh.

Sometimes you can get Gomma by Etro at reasonable prices (on ebay), but it's a bit lighter than KT.

Well for 10 bucks you can get Cuba Gold, which smells very close to JPG Le Male

A cheap alternative to Derby IMO is Irreversible by Jeanne Arthes

I bet you've never heard this before but surprisingly Cool Water is similar to GIT

I can see where people are coming from with this, but there is a very big difference IMO.

Rochas man is a toned down version of New Haarlem
Mark Birley Charles St smells like a mix of Tom Ford noir de noir and Tuscan leather
Mugler cologne smells like original vetiver
    Millesime imperial vs unforgivable
    Etc...

For certain, Green Irish Tweed > Cool Water + the amazing amount of local knock offs you will find everywhere.

    On the rest, no idea.

Knize Ten can be found fairly cheap in continental Europe (as opposed to the UK, as far as I've seen, and I assume the USA also). Think I paid around £30 for a 50ml bottle. Perhaps you could import one.

I don't really get the similarities either - Cool Water totally lacks GIT's awesome heart notes. I tried one knockoff that captured most of GIT's magic. I've got a sample of perfume oil from the Fragrance Shop that is supposed to be very close as well (but without the batch/longevity issues), so we'll see how that goes.

I'd say Ralph Lauren Silver Romance is similar enough to Purple Label.

Azuree by Estee Lauder costs about $40 at Macy's and the like; it's a wonderful leather, less tarry than KT and more citrusy, but still gives out quite a kick. But, as russell was saying, KT isn't that expensive to start with, it's just difficult to find in the US.

I agree, add to that a very annoying note lurking among the rest. But many people are either blind or disregard these differences, so lower-quality versions of the same concept can be as satisfying as its high-end version for aficionados.

There is even a 30ml version available which costs about 25 euros
