Cool Scent and Mood - Any interesting combinations you have?

Its really interesting how the scent can determine your mood or vice versa.

White shirt and light blue linen summer suit? My choice is Aventus

Formal look, navy blue suit with black oxfords? Vintage Tabarome, Chanel Pour Monsieur, PdN New York, BdP Creed and Cuiron HL

3 days unshaven and hate the world for its imperfection? Go for Yatagan, Basala Shiseido, Macassar Roshas, Azzaro PH

Drinks at nightclub with fellows and nice girls with uncertain completion? Definitely Puredistance M, Roja Dove Danger, Amouage XXV

Audience with prime minister - Patou pour homme (thats why my bottle still untouched)

Cigar and Whiskey evening with your old friend (you now sometimes we need to talk about "those days") - Derby Guerlain, Fahrenheit, Tuscany, Aramis

What's your best combination of the scent and mood?

I have only a few 'looks' - either something very like the Hasidic, or, in Summer, light linen suits - so it is all about mood for me.

Inscrutability among those trying hard to place one - Caron pour un Homme or Eau Sauvage. (They are never out of place, and say virtually nothing about one's class, personal life or profession. Almost masks.)

A languid day spent idly among art galleries - Hammam Bouquet. (It is hard not to just relax and commune with the beauty of life wearing this - for the first three hours at least.)

Wishing to make a good impression on colleagues, or for that matter just socially - Tabac Blond. (Slightly androgynous, true, but easily masculine enough, to say nothing of ravishing, that I feel self-assured wearing it. I have gotten the most complimentary reactions to it of anything I have yet worn, which is pleasant.)

Ambitious resolve that involves doing things by oneself instead of in the company of others - En Avion. (It is feminine, but also so - austere. I do sometimes hesitate to wear it when out, for it is so feminine that it's really very daring for a man. But it makes me want to accomplish difficult things.)

Business occasions, Terre D'Hermes, just shows how much balls one has got. Cionfidence, self awareness bravery is what that fragrance screams for me.

EDJA, a meeting with the prime minister surely doesn't deserve a wearing of Patou pour Homme. Save it for really special occasions. Save it for your meeting with Eva Herzigova.

Good thread here. I totally agree that not every scent works for every occasion. Here's my list:

When I'm in a competitive work situation (which is most of the time, since I'm a lawyer) and need to come off like I own the place: Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme or Grey Flannel

When I'm just hanging out at home, relaxing after work: Agua Lavanda

Cookouts during the summer: Kouros or Paco Rabanne

Going out for a night on the town: Dior Homme, Mazzolari Patchouli, Santal Noble

In a great mood during great weather: Guerlain Vetiver

When I want to feel like I'm on vacation in the French Mediterranean: Eau Sauvage, Guerlain Vetiver, Acqua di Parma

When I'm in a shitty mood and need to be cheered up: Krizia Moods Uomo, Jaguar For Men
Check out my blog Pour Monsieur, a no-nonsense guide to men's fragrances:
    http://pourmonsieurblog.blogspot.com/

Any fragrance that should not be worn in public, should be worn in public.

Eue Savage is definitely my vacation scent.
Last year on Maldives i spent full 50 ml bottle.
It's fantastically natural matched with the sea scent and salty skin...
Longevity is quite low, but it's so fresh at the opening.
Grabbed the old one - gonna try it next trip.

When I am travelling for business reasons - Penhaligons 1870, Fahrenheit and Bulgary Black...
Tease frags are more or less suitable for flights - I do not want to bother my neighbors in Boeing or Airbus

I can see where the OP is coming from with this, and maybe I just pick fragrances based on a style that I think epitomises me, but I just wear what I like, when I like, rather than get caught up in occasion/formality.

Its not about the srict rules - its more about the feeling you get, wearing some frag

Grey Flannel is amazing scent and most undervalued IMO... this is pure masciline scent without any compromiss

About time someone starts this thread.

Grey Flannel ( 1 spray under the shirt)
Crisp white shirt, 3-piece suit in charcoal grey. Boardroom meetings, formal interviews where you are the interviewer. Or that meeting with your prospective father-in-law. More than 1 or 2 sprays and we are talking about that dreaded family gathering with obnoxious relatives from across town.

Holy Water by La Via del Profumo
    Colonia by Acqua di Parma
Le Temps d'Une Fete by Parfums di Nicolai
    - Breezy afternoons, white linen shirts, sandals.

    Serge Noire by Serge Lutens
    - Balmy evenings, introspective mood, solitude.

    Sel Marin by Heeley
    Uden by Xerjoff
    - Afternoons at the dock, yatching or rocking that Cap'n Jack Sparrow outfit (with some rum of course).

    Bulgari Black
    TF Tuscan Leather
Military-styled olive green jacket, jeans, aviators. Mission: Charm Offensive.

    MFK Lumiere Noire pour Homme
White sportcoat, white trousers, dark shirt, pocket square in similar dark shade, luxury timepiece. Afternoon romance.

Just some personal impressions, of course. Life's too short...

So you're that pimp I keep seeing at Clarke Quay then?

I throw a couple in the ring:

Distressed black leather jacket, Motorhead t-shirt and Black Jeans: Muscs Koublai Khan or Rose 31

Grey pin-stripe suit, crisp white shirt and brown two tone Chelsea boots: Tobacco Vanille or Encre Noire.

I like to wear super light, simple and natural smelling eau de colognes to bed. I don't really wear them otherwise.

Any fragrance with any mood, I just wear anything I like and the let the particular moods join me along with the scent's lifespan after the application
