    Default Does cologne spoil/go bad?

The reason I ask this is because I have a couple bottles I haven't worn in 5+ years and they smell bad! Nothing like their supposed to, 2 that I can remember having this issue with are Calvin kleins eternity & contradiction. Have anybody else experienced this with their bottles?

Well it depends on how they were stored. I always store them in a nice cool, dry and dark area. This method has not failed me yet and i got some bottles pushing over 5 year and they still smell nice.

There is also some individual variation. Before I was aware of such things, I stored my bottles in a room that got very hot in the summer. Allure PH and the original Polo survived okay, but Fahrenheit smelled like nail polish remover (acetone).

I've had a tester bottle of Le Male sitting in my closet for 6-7 years and it still smells the same. Just by taking a wild guess, if you kept them in extreme heat or direct sunlight they would probably be altered.

That could be it, my room does get hot in the summer also. I live in san diego, ca where it averages 75 degrees all year round and can get real warm in the summer.

Light is most damaging to fragrances-- they'll last longer if you store them in the dark. A drawer or closet, for example.

Just keep them away from extreme bright light and extreme heat and you should be fine.

keep mine cool, dark and dry and one or 2 have still gone. Once my burberry brit went cloudy full of little bits, until it looked like pond water lol.
