Default Chanel Platinum Egoiste or YSL M7?

It's been a while since I bought a new fragrance. I am looking at these fragrances, they all have positive reviews on BN. And it has become a really hard to choice to chose one . But on my budget right now I can only have one so I was wondering you guys can help me out in my decision I'm also a Junior in college and live in Miami(weather) if it makes a difference.

There are actually a few more options lol: Egioste, M7, Rive Gauche or Xeryus Rouge actually? Tough Decision!!

Own all three, would choose RG. M7 is more suited for cold weather and I got bored of my PE quite quickly.

    Get the real EgoÔste instead.

My first choice for you is Platinum Egoiste. It's not the most exciting scent from your list, but I personally find it the most wearable in warm weather and a decent overall scent.

My favorite without weather considerations is M7, but I feel overwhelmed just looking at the bottle if it's over 50-60 degrees.

Egoiste - very complex scent, but I personally just don't like it.

Rive Gauche - I have no idea why this gets so much love here on basenotes. It isn't a bad scent, but I personally find it boring. Someone (I think here) described it as the perfect scent for outdoor funerals with overcast weather, which I think nails it on the head.

Well that's one way to look at RG lol. Never heard it described like that. As of right now its the lowest on the decision list. The shop that I go to is offering M7 at a pretty good price much lower than retail.

YSL M7 (vintage) is worth owning, as well as Rive Gauche pour Homme and Egoiste.

    Platinum Egoiste is crap.

Rive Gauche is the best out of these fragrances IMO.

I would rank them thus: EgoÔste, M7, and then Rive Gauche. I don't like Platinum EgoÔste or Xeryus Rouge. However, it would be easier to advise you if you gave a few examples of what you like. Taste is not absolute.

True haha I should be saving it for the boat load of books but who really needs a book for music appreciation and it is the vintage M7 by the way.

I agree. But I have a range of fragrances from Allure Homme Sport to Guerlain L'Instant. I like the freshness and versatility of Rive Gauche and PE (works better in the Miami weather) but also like M7 because though as not versatile, it's more warm/sensual. Xeryus Rouge I have not sampled yet but I've read a few positive reviews especially on its longevity. But I do need one that has great projection cause my skin doesn't really hold on to some scents as well as others.

I don't think M7 would be a good fit for the warm weather - VERY heavy. I would go with Platinum Egoiste for sure. Rive Gauche is nice, but I personally like it more for cold weather. Egoiste is nice, but very sweet. Xyerus Rouge would be last for me (but is still nice)
