Default Looking for a boozy fragrance to add to my rotation.

What's up guys? Like always you have been a huge help in steering me in the right direction when it comes to fragrances. I am looking for a boozy fragrance besides Pure Malt to add to my rotation. I was thinking about the Kilian line, Straight to Heaven. I already own Tobacco Vanille which has a somewhat boozy quality and I feel that Spiriteuse Double Vanille would be a waste by already owning and loving TV. I also feel that Back to Black would be a waste as well since it does have a similar quality to it like TV. I was wondering if you could list 3 fragrances with that boozy quality to help me narrow down my sampling?

Im a fan and own StH. That rum is strong off the top but very unique and lasts forever. I believe it to be a warm weather frag and this one does not open up on me until the weather is warmer 60° F+.

I cant think of any right now lol but im sure others will chime in. Be sure and test StH if you go that route, its not for everyone.

So, you think this is better suited for warmer weather?

I do, I actually wore it on cold morning (20's is cold here) and could not even detect it on my skin until it warmed up later that morning. I just wont wear it on colder days here but its usually warm in Phoenix so its right up my alley.

DK Men/Fuel for Men by Donna Karan (boozy leather)
    SEEKING BOTTLES OF:

Aramis New West (preferably old bottle)
    Patrick by Fragrances of Ireland

Ungaro III is the thing that immediately comes to mind.
Guerlain Homme intense does the booze thing in a pretty clever way.
Idole comes to mind as well, but I'm not really sure if that's what you're looking for.

Spiriteuse Double Vanille is substantially different from Tobacco Vanille. Quite a bit different. Get both, wear both.

I agree that they are both different. What I meant by similar is that they both hit you in the face with an over the top vanilla during the dry down. That is why I was looking elsewhere is all. I actually am I very big fan of the scent.

+1, on me the vanilla in SDV almost disappears in the drydown and a real spicy richness emerges.

Also L'occitane's Immortelle very cognac/syrup booze.............

The Frapin line will also be a great place to start, since the majority of their line is made up of boozy/congac esque offerings.

Well I've had both of these. 1697 is more tobacco and deep woods with the boozy smell. A very distinctive scent. Idole EDP is spicier than 1697 and the booze note is more noticeable. The spices do dry out a little and the leather is drier - this is a wonderful fragrance but it is a very positive charge. I think 1697 feels older, more experienced, calmer and more mature. Idole is a little wilder and more outspoken and a younger scent. Idole could be worn by a woman or man, but I can only see 1697 on a man. Good luck!

I'll just chime in on what the others have suggested up to this point, but boozy frags are probably my favorites by far, and these are some of my top picks:

    Ambre Russe
    Frapin 1270
    Frapin 1697
(I've only worn the absolu, though I have smelled the EdP and it was also good, so either one)
    Tonka Imperiale
    Idole EDP
    (EDT is great as well)
    Straight to Heaven
    Chene
    Yohji Homme

Boozy (I wish there were a more upscale term) fragrances are generally preferred by some during the colder winter months.

I'll wear boozy when I feel like it.

On some days my body temperature is not affected by the outside climate.

Yesterday it was about 16 degrees Celsius in the morning and I had to turn on the steering wheel heater , seat heater and AC car heater but today I woke up warm and actually rolled the window down.

There's quite a range of 'boozy'. Do you want the type of cigar club booze? Or the fruity drink booze? Or the Caribbean spicy booze? Or the sweet vanilla booze? I love some of the boozy varieties myself but I don't love all the different ways 'boozy' is rendered. There's quite a wide range of it.

Oh and I don't find TV boozy at all, it's pretty cupcake, so if you are using that as a basis of what you consider boozy I think you will find a noticeable difference in frags that are indeed boozy.

Agree here. It is great, and considerably different from TV even though it does have a tobacco note in there (Back to Black is indeed more in the same vein as TV though). I actually recommend Mona di Orio's Les Nombres d'Or Vanille as an alternative to SDV, as they are similar, but Vanille is less sweet with a tremendous dry vanilla bean heart with a prominent dry rum note in its top notes (it also is missing the tobacco in SDV). I prefer the MdO, but they are both great.

Straight to Heaven is not an easy one to like, IMO. I do, but I don't love it, and definitely recommend not blind buying it.

+1s on both Frapin 1270 and Idole de Lubin edp. Both are great options too.

I wouldn't make the final decision until you get your nose on 1270 and Ambre Russe as well. If you're going to only sample one Frapin, I'd go with 1270 over 1697, personally.

Ahh, gotcha. You might favor 1697 then of the two, as it's considerably drier. I've never smelled anything quite like it.
