Default New Fragrance: La Nuit de L’Homme Frozen Cologne

Here's the info as per the "now smell this" blog:

"Yves Saint Laurent will launch La Nuit de L’Homme Frozen Cologne in March. The new fragrance for men promises ‘a new feeling’ and is a flanker to 2009′s La Nuit de L’Homme, which is a flanker to 2006′s La Homme.

The notes include lemon, mandarin, bergamot, black pepper, geranium, vetiver, cedar, tonka bean and cashmere wood.

Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de L’Homme Cologne Frozen will be available in 60 and 100 ml."

    NST Blog link

    masculin.com (for our French readers)

Edit: a Google Translate version of the marketing

"At the climax of a night guided by the desire, 'Frozen Cologne' slap slap such a cold, the skin remembers the feeling.
Reinvented 'La Nuit de l'Homme Cologne Frozen' said the exhilarating pleasure of meeting the burning intensity. the man in the irresistible charm remains the same, 'Frozen Cologne' seized in a new facet of sensuality ", defines the brand in a statement."

Hmmm, sounds more of a Lhomme flanker.

I will try to give my opinion, since i like La Nuit (and dislike Lhomme)

I think they decided to milk the icy-cool accord in La Nuit de L'Homme Le Parfum for the American market. That's the best part of what is arguably the best member of the family, so maybe this won't totally suck, if they can keep the cool thing going with any decent longevity in a cologne format. Fingers crossed. The Gingembre Cologne was rather forgettable.

It's like L'Homme became its own fragrance ecosystem. I don't think it's going to stop. They're making too much cash for that to happen. I'll bet the others are going to start doing it, too.

It's weird, but maybe it's the wave of the future. Just keep three or four evolving fragrances out there at all times. If any flanker does too well, let it stay and add two more flankers to keep testing the market.

La Nuit is dear to me only on account it actually worked - when I say "it worked" we all know what I'm saying.
Now we get yet another flanker wich needn't be bad in the end, but time will show, albeit I expect nothing here that would rock my world.

I don't particularly care if it's a flanker of a flanker. The only question should be "What does it smell like?".

It's only the perfume nerds/snobs who get their knickers in a twist about this sort of thing.

When you really think about it, it really makes no difference if they decide to market this as a flanker (of a flanker). Honestly, these fragrances end up smelling so different from one another that they really all stand alone as works of perfumery.

Your only complaint should be that they borrowed the same name from a former work to maximize on customer association and loyalty, which frankly is just a smart business move. Now if this ends up smelling too similar to La Nuit, then I'll have a problem. But I have no inherent issue with the flanker of a flanker concept. I just wish they would start churning out something bold and stop chasing the trends.

I like the Le Parfum version. It's made me reconsider a line I'd written off as too commercial and too bland. So yes, I'll be giving the new one a sniff. Thanks to the OP for the news.

Your only complaint should be that they borrowed the same name from a former work to maximize on customer association and loyalty, which frankly is just a smart business move.
My only complaint is that latest trend for designers leaded by YSL is to release 3 average fragrances (usually flankers of their "major" fragrance) every year (calling it summer, aqua, sport, etc) without doing anything new and groundbreaking. Many times its just watered down version of original that should be sold for 1/4 of its retail price. It is almost like Montale releasing its endless oud variations where scents differ from each other only a bit. Atleast Montale line lasts longer than average designer scents.
Current TOP 7 from my collection:

    1. Gucci Pour Homme II
    2. Chanel Coromandel
    3. L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme Extreme
    4. Encre Noire
    5. Dior Homme Intense
    6. Timbuktu
    7. Dior Homme

Well, it's March and I have yet to hear anything about the release date of this flanker. Does anyone know anything more about it than we did 6 months ago?

I'll definitely give this one a fair shot when it comes out and while it might not be the most unique fragrance in the world, I'm sure it will smell pleasant enough.

I'll give it a try, as I like Nuit.

tbh YSL should really stop with these redundant flankers released each year, only ones worth it is L'Homme and La Nuit de L'Homme.
