Going by your wardrobe you have some pretty wide range of taste on scents.

Many of the Bonds are probably tough to blind buy. That being said the most unique one to me and I have smelled just about everyone and worn most on skin so far would be Central Park. Nowhere else have I sniffed something like that one, very unique.

    Good hunting.

Sample, sample, sample and sample! I can't say it enough when it comes to Bond's. There are a couple I love but only found that out through getting samples and being able to wear for at least a couple days to really get an idea on them. I'd say do some reading and narrow down to a top 3 or 5 you would consider and locate and buy samples or their "Bon-Bon's" of those top 3 or 5. It's a pricey bottle no matter what to blind buy and it's a bad feeling when you end up with something that's not at all what you expected or wanted.

I agree, considering the prices of Bond fragrances, you ought to test them first.

Personally I love New Haarlem, but it didn't smell like I thought it would.

    Please try first

Yep, I'd have to agree w/ the others - I love several of the Bonds but neither of the two that you've short listed did much for me. I know that New Haarlem gets a good amount of love here - and the provided notes had me written all over it but, I found it a bit cloying...plus, I pulled the blind buy trigger on "Success is a Job" based on the notes and quickly had to sell it on ebay - definitely not for me!! Way too much of a mishmash, IMO. HTH!

It depends what you like. If the notes of one appeal to you more than the other then get that one. Personally New Haarlem is better

I blind bought both Success is a job in new york and New haarlem, of the two I would have to say I like NH the best. The former is nice as well, my SOTD actually, but Success is more on the feminine side of unisex while New Haarlem is on the weirder side of things.

NH is sort of similiar to Rochas Man if you have tried that one.

I would never buy a Bond No 9 frag blind.

Pretty much everybody dissuaded you already from blind buying. Why don't you just go to one of the Michigan ave dept stores (eg Saks or Neimans) and get yourself sprayed?

    My favorite is Chinatown (foodie-gourmand-chypreish)

Oh and one slight sidenote on Success is a job in new york, I put it on at around 8 this morning local time. It's now 23:34, almost 16 hours since application and the juice is still going strong.

    This is fairly impressive.

if you sampled two bonds and didn't find them a must have then no, dont spend that kind of money for something that doesnt wow you.

Definitely go to Saks and try them on. If you seem interested they usually give you some samples. Of course if you buy something you'll get tons of samples - Bond, Killians, TF, etc.

I would suggest trying Chez, Great Jones, Riverside Drive, NH, Silver Factory, NY Oud, NY Amber, and Eau de New York.

Safe blind buys would be Riverside Drive, New Haarlem, Bleecker Street, Chez Bond, and maybe Wall Street. The last two smells:Chez Bond like GIT and Wall Street like MI by Creed. My wife's favorite would be Bleecker Street and New Haarlem and the new Andy Warhol. She is also intrigued by H.O.T Always but if you don't like patchouli, stay away from this one.

you live in Chicago so I know you have a Saks 5th Avenue store. Go there and sample. The Bond rep will give you samples to take home. The bond rep in Michigan sent me them in the mail since I live 2 hours from the store. I got samples of Ne Haarlem, Saks For Him, and I love NY for him. Went to the mall a few weeks later dead set on buying New Haarlem but after sniffing a few others like Brooklyn and Wall Street I chose Wall Street. I'll get NH next fall as I still like it a lot but Wall Street was my fave that day.

Nothing in the Bond house is spectacular enough to warrant a blind buy

Bond is a house that I would definitely sample before I buy. Their frags are too complex and aren't as appealing to some.

Thanks for talking me off the ledge of making a blind Bond No 9 buy. I went to Saks today to sample and ended up buying Endymion & Quercus by Penaligons which I am in love with both

Just New Haarlem. Brooklyn is alright, but it kind of smells like Cashews and Floral
