    Default Splash??

I can understand why splashes were around back in the day ... like 1935 or whatever. But since the advent of sealing atomizers, what's the point? I prefer spraying to splashing in every way I can think of.

Why are splash bottles still produced?

No point as far as I'm concerned. Out of 1,284 bottles in my collection I think there are only 6 or 7 splashes and that's only because I haven't been able to procure the spray yet.

Some people actually prefer to splash fragrance on. Different strokes...

I like to dab for expensive and pure parfums and to splash for cheap and refreshing EDCs

That makes sense I suppose, if a frag is too concentrated and one spray is more than a day's dose. But there are definitely EdT splash bottles out there; I have a few unfortunately. I decant them into 1oz atomizer bottles and worry that I'm losing top notes in the transfer. Then I have to spray out of my ugly screw top atomizer instead of a nice groovy factory made sprayer.

hednic do you think anyone on these boards or anywhere in the world has a bigger collection than you?

I don't mind a splash, mine are Egoiste, Bois des Iles parfum, and Fille En Aiguille. Just takes longer to get the right amount but you can be more precise on where you put it.

I like to dab concentrated things - export SL for instance. For edc (eg Chanel eau de cologne) I decant - actually, I like the splash because I can make many decants to leave around, give away etc, which is quite hard with sealed-on sprays.

Whenever I dab I cant get over feeling like the frag is being contaminated with dirt and oil and skin cells. I hate seeing nasty little floaties in vials. All large splash bottles I have are decanted into 1oz atomizers for use.

    Totally!

Actually my beautiful giant bottle of Jicky EdC totally has a gross ugly whisker in it. Probably mine.

If you have sensitive skin and you want to avoid getting perfume on your face then splash bottles are better than atomisers.

I think splashes are made for the S&M crowd ... the smacking and slapping when applying is a real turn-on ...

Lol somehow that photo does not say S&M to me.

It does make quite a difference for some fragrances (mostly extraits). Splashing/dabbing reduces sillage and renders them darker in mood (best candidate here is En Avion). In fact, I'm more annoyed to find an atomizer, whose top I can't screw off than having to decant into an atomizer from a splash bottle. In general, I would like to see most EdTs and EdPs in atomizers (unless the perfumer wants to have it differently) and extraits in splash.

MonkeyBars, hednic will most likely not reply to this, I've noticed he posts only once in about every thread ever created, don't think I've ever seen him post twice within one thread.

I have a theory that hednic is actually a supercomputer that is slowly figuring out the human mind and eventually will take over the world....

I like spray because it gives me a clearer picture of the notes. Although I can see it from the point of view like MikePerez, who I know likes to splash.

Its kinda cool when you are given both options, like Fahrenheit Aqua.

Splash bottles must serve some purpose. Why else would Amouage use them for their attars?

Same here, I like the atomizers as well over the splash, plus theres a less chance of spillage.

I luuuurrrrrrrve splash bottles. It makes me feel all old Hollywood glamour fancy. Plus the way the frag kinda rolls down my dÚcolletage feels naughty (in a good way)!

Never been a fan of splash bottles myself. I've owned (and actually still own) several over the years, but usually they've been gifts, or in at least one case something rare/discontinued, when it was splash or nothing....
