Default For the love of god man... 07 Tanoke...

Is it that BN has sampled this yet? Its a thing of beauty. This is not really an option for anyone. How is it this isn't trending around here?

Just got a sample of this today. I tested it on paper briefly - it didn't do much on paper. A lightly smoky oakmoss type opening that gradually faded into a sweeter base with some guaiac present. Granted, I didn't pay it that much attention as I was testing a lot of samples. I'm hoping this performs better on skin!

I wish I had the vocabulary and was able to ID notes as good as the worst here. I know what I like and I'm beginning to explain it by "wood, leather, tobacco, oud, Vetiver and pepper." though I couldn't say which of those notes are in this, but it's got a very smooth dry down. It's awkward and stingy like EN, but it's smooth and creamy like mdo Oud has.

Who's not going to enjoy this...

    07 Tanoke Notes
Ginger, Bitter Orange, Black Pepper, Gaiacwood, Smoky Incense, Nutmeg, Redwood, Patchouli, Black Musk

And I think "Gaiacwood" might be code for "Crack".

I've got a sample on its way. There is another thread about this scent that has a few reviews that seemed to be very favorable.

You'd be surprised by the smell of the natural material. It's not particularly pleasant on its own! I do find though that many compositions that feature gaiacwood are dark and smoky and excellent.

You got me super curious. I'm going to search for scents with Gaiacwood and see if I can detect the common note. Curious to smell it in its raw form as well obviously.

It's probably because I'm a teacher, but I smell pencil shavings right off the bat

That raises the question, would Jesus only wear Aventus or would it be in the mix of many other heavenly scents?

You know how they say that God is love? Well Jesus = Aventus. I learned that in Catholic school.

07 Tanoke by Odin NY is a great fragrance! I agree totally with wmim - it's a wonderful smokey woods scent that has totally gone under the radar here at Basenotes. Probably this is due to some confused signals with either the concept or execution of some of the other Odin scents. 07 Tanoke is highly recommended!

Don't know about the incense part...I've only tested a couple scents with incense, so I'm not that familiar with it yet. All I know is that the initial smell of Tanoke makes me think of dumping a full pencil sharpener into the trash. I'm not saying it's bad...that's just what I smell. I actually enjoyed Tanoke quite a bit about an hour in...sadly, it was nearly gone after 2-3 hours.

A slight thread bump, but I got a bottle of this as a gift the other day - it's one of the first things I've ever smelled that blew me away at first smell. Fantastic scent, although I will say that the longevity is certainly lacking (I get maybe three - four hours on my skin).

Amazed that hasn't gotten more of a mention on here.

I think the house of Odin in general is under the radar. There are a few worth testing, one in particular was unique and I can't remember which it was. Maybe 4? I need to revisit.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
