I don't know much about medicine, but I know what I like. -- S.J. Perelman
Grogeous sample that's just arrived from TPC - Keiko Mecheri's Attar. Think I may have to buy an FB. Strictly for rose maniacs like me.
Its Friday. Hooray!
Musc Ravageur for me today.
Best to all.
Hi all. For synch Friday (an ornate scent) I'm going with Cacharel LouLou. A utilitarian bottle carrying a complex heady scent - part oriental, part floral, part gourmand, with a rough undertone. Cheap as chips too. What's not to like?
Belated congratulations to Quarry and Mr Q for your anniversary yesterday. Hope you had a lovely day.
Have a good Friday all.
Good morning! Have a fine Friday!
Le Parfum de Therese by Edmond Roudnitska, from a sample.
G The La Pavoni machine is great actually. The ritual of filling, tamping, fixing, twisting, pulling levers and turning cogs to open steam valves to froth milk can be really satisfying. Great when you have your pals round. But what a palaver when you just want a coffee!! Yeesh! Think I am going to have a Nespresso one right enough Push a button, et voila!

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Happy Anniversary Week to Sir and Madam Quarry
Continuing my research of Lyric Woman...also fits nicely into the synch theme today, imo.
"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." What I am loving right now: Shalimar vintage extrait, Chanel Bois des Iles, Chanel no. 22, Le Labo Iris 39, Guerlain Iris Ganache
A belated but heartfelt Happy Anniversary to the Quarries!

Synching today as promised in Bois d'Encens by Armani Prive. Only 1 use left in the sample at a guess so going to have to bite the bullet and purchase as I adore it so much
Will be in Paul Smith Rose this evening... Ornate again on account of the packaging and printing

Good morning, good smelling people!
The end of my sample of Neil Morris Storm. It is raining today and this smells so good. I am torn between this and SSS To Dream for a FB. They aren't similar but they sort of fill the same category in my wardrobe, I love them both. It may hinge on who does a sale first.
Petruccijc, how is the Turquoise, with the turpentine top note? I've always wanted to try that one.
For sync Friday I'm joining Devilcat in LouLou.
Top notes: Bergamot, black currant buds, green leaves, marigold, mandarin
Middle notes: Jasmine, heliotrope, mimosa, tiare, ylang ylang
Base notes: Tonka bean, incense, iris, musk, vanilla, sandalwood
(notes from Michael Edwards' Perfume Legends)

elaborately or sumptuously adorned, often excessively or showily so: They bought an ornate Louis XIV sofa.
In sync in:
Homage by Amouage
Quite possibly the most ornate scent I've yet to encounter, this morning instead of dabbing it on from a toothpick I instead dropped 1 tiny drop in my morning bath and wow...amazingly scented (me and the bathroom!).
Tonight it will be one of my other ornate favorites: Private Collection (extrait) by Estee Lauder.
HUGS to all and T.G.I.F.!!

Doing a drive-by posting this am, and not in synch as of yet, in Replique. Take care, all.
Good evening friends. I wore Violet Blond Blond this morning and I'm in narcosis inducing spray amounts of N'Aimez Que Moi Parfum extrait. The boutique doesn't have Extrait in stock, only the EDP and spray tester of the extrait.
As promised here are pictures from my brother in law's future wife's back yard lol. It's an hour and a half north of Dubai in case anyones interested.
I had intended on taking more and better pictures but , alas , even though my car is an all wheel drive , it's not the kind that can climb sand dunes.
My brother in law was so shy, thinking about it now, my constant teasing may have caused some of the shyness, lol.*
Mr.camel basking in the *rays of the setting *sun.
And just for fun, a silhouette of Dubai city skyline. That's Burj Khalifa, tallest man made structure in the world.
I am wearing L'Heure Bleue today in respect to jujy54. She and FrouFrou have had to face the loss of family members this past week. Hugs to all in need.
If I had to chose my most ornate scent for Friday sync, it would 24 Faubourg, but I wasn't in the mood for it today anyway. It is definitely full of notes, volume, phases, and fringed with sillage.
Warm thanks to anniversary good-wishers. You guys are as sweet as American chocolate. Kumquat, your quarry reference is especially appreciated and put a smile on my face!
Welcome waves to cestrum nocturnum ... and anybody else I've missed.
While it's TGIF for many of you, it's the start of a new work cycle for me as three customers have erupted into demand mode. Now, can I maintain my Kindle Zen or will I fall back into a harried mindset? Sister PerfumedLady, is there an app for that?
Hedonist, your photos continue to slay me. What a beautiful landscape. And I love the new measurement: "Narcosis-inducing spray amounts."
In a world where 6 million people are added each month, every landscape matters.
Great pics Hedonist! Thanks for sharing those.
Chanel 31 rue Cambon for today, a few more sprays than usual for work, so I'm loving the smell of myself today.
Most likely not in synch, but maybe close.
SotE - Bond No 9 Bleecker Street.
Great pics Hedonist!!!
Wall Street by Bond No.9
In honour of Theodoros Aggelopoulos, whose funeral was held today in Athens...
Soundtrack of the Film "The Beekeeper" by Theo Angelopoulos.
Composed by Eleni Karaindrou.
L'Heure Bleue seems right for today...
in sync with
with a few extra sprays. hehe
When we come to the other world and meet the millions of Jews who died in the camps and they ask *what have you done for us*.......I will say * I did not forget you*. Simon Wiesenthal
Wearing Molinard Nirmala.
(((Hugs))) to Jujy, FrouFrou, and to those who are mourning Theo Angelopoulos. I was going to wear L'Heure Bleue, too, but I haven't gotten around to it. I must have set aside at least ten decants that would work for today's scent sync, but I'm just not in the mood for "ornate". Maybe later this evening. At the moment I'm wearing some very neroli'ish/cologny scent from a mystery decant. I don't know what it is but I like it. I've been trying to get the jumble of fragrances in my linen closet organized today.
Hedonist they are envy inducing photographs again. Especially as today it was cold and raining slush in Yorkshire with the cross Pennines roads closed due to snow already with more due.
I am joining in the unofficial, l'heure bleue mini-synch tonight. For the occasion, I've dug out a sample of some vintage EdC that a generous soul sent me a while back.
Thank you *Dora* for the clip.
Best wishes to those mourning the passing of loved and admired ones.
Thanks for these fantastic pics, hedonist. The skyline, sunset and the pic itself is a stunner!!! Looks great to me on this icy cold evening... all ovens at full service... house twin with hedonist (they shall get a baccharat fountain for you, hedonist!) in Tabac Blond. Funny, not having worn it for two weeks, it always seems we have to re-arrange our relationship from scratch after an absence! But falling in love anew is fun
I'm wearing Haiku by Avon now.
Yuzu, pomegranate, fig, lily, muguet, jasmine, tonka bean, sandalwood, musk
I love the camel!
Today it's 40s and rainy here-- a bit raw but still quite mild for January. The snow is all gone.
I'm wearing Bois de Paradis. I bought this bottle a couple of years ago at Aedes, loved the scent, but found it overwhelming to spray on. It more or less sat in my fridge unused the past few years.
Finally last week I bought some more 1 ml steel rollerballs from Accessories For Fragrances so I could decant my heavy hitters into them, and dab instead of spraying. Dabbed on wrists and base of throat, I can finally enjoy Bois de Paradis.
Also into the rollerballs went my decant of Carnal Flower, Coriandre (parfum), Une Rose, Wrappings, YSL Paris, Ambre Soie and Amouage Gold. My husband used one for his decant of Amouage Tribute.
The advantage of these tiny rollerballs is that even though skin cells accumulate inside the perfume (as with any rollerball scent), you use it up fairly quickly and can clean it before refilling with more of the same scent.
Happy Friday Everyone!
Hedonist, great pics again! I love that adorable camel!!!
Thanks for the welcome, Quarry! This is such a lovely group, I do so appreciate the kindness.
I didn’t know about synch Fridays, but I am wearing vintage Caleche, which is rather more interesting than the new version, though not exactly ornate!
Alfarom, I meant to say earlier that I love, love, love that bottle.
Hedonist, I'm a fan of Mr. Camel, too. What are the animals in the enclosure behind him? Could they be emus?
Camels, Violet Blonde and Dubai - oh my! It looks HOT - it was warm here in Miami too. Not the best weather to be rockin a multi-layered, floral attar IMO, but I pulled it off nicely.
Now, all of you ladies got me in the mood to wear L'Heure Bleue tonight. Hmm...
For now, I have the very last drops of this all over my arms:
Violet Blonde by Tom Ford
The top notes make my mouth salivate, they smell so much like violet candied mints. I need a bottle. Yep.

31 Rue Cambon (Chanel)
I am wearing Infini.
I was wearing PG Cadjmere during the day, and it has been TDC Jasmin de Nuit tonight.
Lauder for Men tonight. THIS is nice!
Our job is to live joyfully in this world of sorrows--Joseph Campbell
I'm wearing Angel today.
I've trademarked the color bleu
Don't even now what the theme for the sync was, started in Sample B, finishing in Mauboussin.
Loved the pictures, Hedonist. Agree with L. about your personal baccarat fountain. We, in our Winter Wonderland, would like more pictures of how everybody lives.
