Default Habit Rouge blind buy = aww yea!

Loving this. Complete blind buy. It opens with much more lemon than I had anticipated, but wow this thing starts to transform fast. I am loving it right now.

Very good, but i dont like the buttery vanilla dry down that much. The opening of the EDT is fantastic (never tried the EDP)

Haven't found a place to test this yet - even though I love these 'old guys smells' - Givenchy Gentleman, Monsieur de Givenchy, Chanel PH Conc, YSL PH Conc, Guerlain Vetiver (though only mixed with Paco Rabanne PH) and Guerlain Heritage, I'm still not sure Habit Rouge would be a frag I would enjoy based on reviews and comments in here and on fragrantica.

How much did it cost you, and where ?
Did you get 50 ml or 100 ml ?

It took me a while to get past the camphor, but I too like it now. It grows on you...

I got this more or less blind about 3 months ago, and I'm liking it a lot. The only previous exposure I had to HR was from a duty-free in JFK - I spritzed my hand with it. HATED the opening then - I went right to the sink and scrubbed it off. Somehow, in the intervening years since then, I must have mellowed. The drydown is still preferable to me, but I can get past the first half-hour now.

Congrats. Probably my favourite fragrance. There's a typically well-written review of this on The Perfume Shrine blog today :-

Nice, which version did you get? I also blind bought the EDT some time ago. Wasn't really into it at first but it grew on me and became a favorite.

The vintage EdC is the version I really love.

I have both and without a doubt I prefer the current EDT!

The lemon is a bit strong in the modern EDT, but it's only alarming for a short time. That drydown! Probably my favorite men's fragrance.

I glad you like it - not a fan and would have been an unsuccessful blind buy for me.

Congrats! Its a classic, and one of the best men's fragrances ever, IMO. Definitely my favorite and signature scent. Every morning the question is whether to wear HR or ... something else. I have most versions of it now, and I agree with lovingthealien - the modern EDT is fantastic.

    Fantastic article!
"The beginning of freedom is the realization that you are not the "thinker." The moment you start watching the thinker, a higher level of consciousness becomes activated. You then begin to realize that there is a vast realm of intelligence beyond thought, that thought is only a tiny aspect of that intelligence. You also realize that all the things that truly matter - beauty, love, creativity, joy, inner peace - arise from beyond the mind.

    You begin to awaken"

I've been pondering this for a while now. Your post made me go ahead and place my order for an EdT. I have never had any experience with Habit Rouge or Shalimar (that I know of) before.
