Talking BEST COLOGNES FOR LATE TEEN/EARLY 20s

I am looking to add to my collection. I have love and luck, Rochas man, Kenneth cole black, and ysl opium. Only love and luck was not a blind but but I am pleased with my blind buys.

Anyways, I have been looking to buy a couple more but want some suggestions please.

I don't want anything that is toooo mature. I was thinking la nuit and Cartier roadster, but I want to get some feedback and other suggestions please.

Chanel egoiste or Dior homme would be worthy additions to a mature guy's wardrobe.

agree with your choice of Roadster by Cartier ... a fresh, non-toothpasty mint, really a dark, subdued mint, which duets with a fresh, green fougere ... excellent quality and versatility ... very good sillage and longevity

    and try:

Fahrenheit Absolute by Christian Dior - Any similarity to its ancestral Farhrenit is left by the wayside in its opening; this is not a bad thing, inasmuch as this challenging fragrance indeed stands on its own extraordinary merits. The opening is a beautiful violet leaf, toned down by the additon of alluring myrrh, giving the impression of a darkened house of worship, after service, with vases of lovely violets scattered here and there. The heart with its smoky frankincense, a light oud and kisses of leather, beckons and subsumes the violet and myrrh into a warm melange. With the violet still twinkling here and there, this mixtture segues into the comforting base with the its dark cedar and agarwood, tempered nicely by coumarin with its tonka bean vanilla. Evoking a dark yet mellow character, this somewhat avant-garde composition is well done. Being a cool weather and evening scent, it has very good longevity and projection.

    &

Play by Givenchy - Citrus abounds in the opening, with bergamot, mandarin orange, bitter orange and grapefruit. This wonderful interplay of semi-sweet and semi-bitter flavors, with an undercurrent of woods, is refreshing. The wrestling of the citrus and wood tumbles to its middle. The spicy heart usurps the citrus opening with its pepper, amyris wood and coffee flower, forming a musky, spicy and woody radiance, arousing a sexy aura. The oft-seen patchouli and vetiver base blends with the heart nicely, mellowing the woods and spice, and leads to its alluring drydown. This is a well balanced composition, and has very good longevity and projection.

La Nuit(-for clubbing) and Roadster(for daytime spring) would be excellent choices

I would concentrate on expanding the range of styles in your collection for a while to make it more versatile

    Suggestions:

The Dreamer- sweet tobacco with light floral notes. Great for spring and fall

Bulgari aqua- high quality aquatic that works best in spring and fall

Body Kouros- Incense theme. Good for nights out and casual cooler days

Tommy Bahama Original-woody/spicy and surprisingly good

Tommy Bahama Set Sail St Barts- lime, coconut, and booze. Supposed to be similar to Creed virgin Island Water at about 1/10th of the price.

Dirty English- Leather themed with citrus, wood and booze notes. Everyone's collection should have a leather frag.

Encre Noir- Smoky. Perfect for dark cool evenings

All the above (except Roadster) can be bought quite cheaply if you shop around

    Hi,

Chia By Farmacia SS. Annunziata, is a better version of Rochas Man, IMO. 120$ for 100ml. I'm sort of a newb, though.

Penhaligons Endymion is a fragrance that is often mentioned as suitable for younger people, and i would have to agree.

I've seen some comments describe it is like a sophisticated Lynx spray, but I think that doesn't do justice to just how much is going on in the fragrance as it dries and releases that wonderful coffee and vanilla aroma

Sorry, didn't realise i was being funny. From the reviews Endymion seems quite well liked here, and is certainly aimed at the younger crowd.

Well, fragrance is obviously a very subjective matter, but I think to describe my opinion of this fragrance as suitable for a younger audience as "a joke" is a little harsh!

A quick trawl of Basenotes reviews for Endymion (not all positive) gives the following quotes, which tend to support my assertion that this is a fragrance aimed at the younger man, albeit from a traditionally conservative house:

"Maybe a very young man, a 16 year old James Dean type could wear it "

"Certainly one of the houses' more favourable offerings for the modern cologne wearer."

"I think this is a great 'stepping stone' fragrance, a good example to give to someone who normally wears CK or YSL and is interested in more classic fragrances"

"Another hip, mod, up-to-date, "with it", cutting-edge fragrance"

"Endymion is a very impressive, sweet and mild modern fragrance"

"A gallant try by Penhaligon's to appeal to the younger market"

Sorry man, just busting balls. It was late and I was entertaining myself.

Still, it is a giant leap from Rochas Man and La Nuit to Endymion for the vast majority if 19 yo guys.

    True.
Still I wished I had worn a Penhaligon at 19
    Or better yet 13
Preferably Blenheim-- No one would have dared steal my lunch money . . .

All those years of boxing, karate, and judo lessons, when I could've studied Salsa instead and picked up the babes!

    *sigh*

Well, let's see. Good fragrances that are not used by every other 19 year old?

    John Varvatos
    Roma Uomo
    Mont Blanc Individuel.

Unless you also want to project a bad boy "You're messing with the wrong guy" image, in which case add

Bulgari Black or Tuscany/Etruscan, or both

Besides attracting girls, you might also get invited to some cool poker games

    Cheers,
