I prefer Black XS myself. (it's my scent of the day). Bulgari Black is unique, and I like the smoky rubber & vanilla, but the dominant leather note ruines it for me. I can handle a hint of leather as a background note, but when it takes center stage in fragrances like Bulgari Black and Midnight in Paris, there's something about it that gets up my nose and makes me sick. For a smoky, vanilla/tonka type scent, I prefer something like YSL Body Kouros over Bulgari Black (since it avoids the leather note).

Bvlgari Black is the more formal, no-nonsense choice, however if you like gourmand scents more, you will probably like Black XS

Bvlgari Black by a mile. Black XS is pretty horrible.

Then give Dior homme intense a try , it's a gourmand(cocoa/vanilla bomb) and suits a formal setting perfectly.
