Default Spiriteuse Double Vanille or Chopard Casmir?

If SDV is beyond one's budget, and it appears now to be getting a bit pricier, is Chopard's Casmir a good alternative?

Both have that vanilla kick and rich warmth of florals.

For the price Chopard Casmir is a great vanilla based fragrance. But if I had to pick one, its SDV hands down. Its just better blended and i like the vanilla bomb note you get from it

You'll thank yourself if you hold out for SDV, I know I did

Thank you for the input. A blog mentioned this and gave two stars of five to SDV. I guess one can only trust one's own nose!

Very much agree with the others. Casmir is a great vanilla for the price but it's not a substitute for SDV. It's usually better to save up and buy the bottle you really love. Have you tried Ambre Narguille yet btw? You might like it if you like SDV.

Definitely SDV of the two. That said, I think Les Nombres d'Or Vanille by Mona di Orio is a good alternative to the also excellent SDV for less money (in fact I prefer it).
    Current Top Favorites:

    2) Giorgio for Men vintage/V.I.P. for Men (Giorgio Beverly Hills)

    4)
Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz) - tie
    4) Lalfeorosa (O'driù) - tie

    6)
Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio)
    7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
    8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)
    9) Javanese Patchouli (Zegna) - tie

Mona's Vanille is my most favourite vanilla of all. However, I find it very different from SDV. SDV verges on a gourmand while Mona's interpretation is the least foody vanilla I know. That said, I can only recommend sniffing it.

I don't find them *very* different, but I definitely agree that Vanille is less sweet and less gourmand than SDV (which is less sweet than most vanillas on the market to begin with). I am not a fan of most gourmands, and I love Vanille... So I guess that on a micro-level backs up your statement about Vanille being the least foodie vanilla you know of (or I, for that matter).

Beware Casmire can turn very very very sweet on certain skins, mine was one. So if you are going for it do skin test. SDV stayed boozy and rich.
