Whatever it is I'm sure many can find a way to bash Creed for it

Wait, so you're saying that Creed is using something other than natural essential oils to achieve these notes? I thought Olivier was steam distilling all the ingredients for my bottle by hand!

There is ZERO natural Oakmoss in Aventus. Early batches actually seemed to have a hint of natural patchouli, not so much now. There is also no natural vanilla or even synthetic vanillins to my nose. They used isobutavan instead. The smokiness isn't quite "barbecue-y" enough to be natural birch tar either (could be "leather MD"). Evernyl, verymoss, isobutavan, etc are all clear, unlike their natural counterparts.

Bergamot, Juniper berry, and patchouli are the only notes in any batch of Aventus I've ever smelled which seemed to be of natural origin. Aventus is a cash cow with a likely far lower production cost than the vast majority of the creed line.

Even 2 of my 500ml flacons from the same batch very in color. Go figure.

Where on earth did you obtain a 500ml flacon of Aventus ??

That's good to know, DULLAH, but it brings up an obvious question, which is why are there so many batch variations? It sounds like they should be able to whip up a batch with their eyes closed, if that is the case. Again, I'm just trying to learn more about how such frags are made, etc. I'm not accusing anyone or any company of doing or saying anything "wrong."

I don't know, but I'm seriously thinking about getting a 4oz bottle this weekend from the Creed boutique. I live right around the corner, so it's an easy walk. Does anyone know which batch is the best?

Apparently the X and Y batches are good. I have never smelled them though. I have a K01 batch.

I have 4 oz. of C4210E01, and it is pale yellow. From day one, it has smelled great. Lots of pineapple throughout and excellent longevity.

I remember discussing this when Aventus was only a few months old.

Theories as to why they had so much batch variation in such a synthetic scent were:

    1. Releasing all their "rough draft" batches due to demand outpacing ingredient supply.
    2. Purposefully tweaking each batch, so that the presence of batch variation would fool some into believing it was predominantly natural.
    3. Changed the formula, removing much of the "90's sporty" notes after initial reviews were critical.
    4. Outright carelessness during mixing/measuring.

There were some other theories, I can't recall.
But in any event, such massive variation for a synthetic scent with an überhigh cost is unacceptable.

Obviously. Cash is king. Lol. I was meaning in a way that they really are doing it the same and each batch is alike but we put the preconceived notion in heads that it's different so automatically people think the batches are different but it's really our minds. I could care less just like them, if that's the case.

I was at 2 different department stores today that both stock creed. First place's tester looked very clear.

Second place ran out of tester and customer service took one out from under counter which was a 17S01, it had a yellowish color. My 18B11 is still very clear.
