Default Loewe Esencia full wear review...

I purchased a 3.4 oz bottle of Loewe Esencia on my trip to Spain back in October... I finally did a full wear of this fine fragrance today... The initial blast is very green, pine and fresh, but somewhat harsh and sharp.... the middle and dry down is great though... this is what you would consider a chypre fragrance.... if you like the original polo green, then you probably will like Loewe Esencia... this smells like a walk in a pine forest on a cool day.... the longevity is very good... I wore it for more than 10 hrs and still I can still smell it... the projection is average and not as loud as polo green... below is my grade for Loewe Esencia...

    Initial Opening = 8

    Middle Note = 9

    Dry Down = 9

    Projection = 8

    Longevity = 9

    Overall Smell = 8

    Overall Grade = 8.5/10
    My Top 10

    1. Amouage Homage Attar
    2. Serge Lutens - Muscs Koublai Khan
    3. YSL M7
    4. Serge Lutens - Ambre Sultan
    5. Chanel Egoiste
    6. 24 Gold by Scentstory
    7. Amouage Epic Man
    8. Amouage Jubilation XXV
    9. Bond No. 9 New York Oud
    10. Serge Lutens - Chergui

love this stuff! the musk/amber/moss can get a bit thick and sweet for my taste but other than that it's nigh on perfect.

I really love this fragrance too. Very masculine, but smooth and gentlemanly
as well on the drydown. Great longevity and "just right" projection.
The drydown is one of the best ever.

Glad you like it. It's one of those fragrances that politely proclaims 'classy gentleman.' Close to HG status for me.

I find it more herbaceous than piney.
    Granville I would consider piney.

Esencia de Loewe, my favorite "made in españa" fragrance ever. Pure class in a bottle!

Hm, I was disappointed in Granville. I found it more earthy, woody, & herbaceous than piney.

Actual pine scent is to be found in frags like Wonderwood and Agua Brava imo. It should have that "cooling" crispness, not even that woody.

I have finished 50ml of Wonderwood. I can confirm there is no perceivable pine. I would know. I detest overly intense pine notes.
I remember my nasal passages clearing up when wearing Granville. Who needs Vicks?

The opening is not my favorite, but the drydown is superb! Esencia is a very refined scent, imho. And it lasts and lasts...

Can't agree with you more. It never overpowers, even in the heat & humidity. Excellent stuff.

This is a very good fragrance. FWIW, I picked up a bottle of Loewe 7 this week and am surprised by how much it reminds me of Esencia.

Agreed. I have and love both Esencia and 7 (and Solo is in my top 5...). So glad I discovered the Spanish fragrances...

Allow me to hop on board the Esencia supporter bandwagon. This is a top-notch scent (which, incidentally, I received via swap with one of the previous posters). The first hour or so reminds me very much of Aramis Tuscany with lots of green added. That's a great thing, because I adore Tuscany. The middle and drydown are, as others have said, beautiful, lush, smooth, and excellent.

Others have mentioned similarities to both Polo Green and Yatagan. I don't get either. Polo Green is much heavier and dirtier, while Yatagan is more herbal and an altogether different scent on me.

In any event, an excellent, excellent scent that will receive frequent rotation.

Tuscany is kind of borderline to me as it contains a whopping coumarin slam, while Esencia's is very much in the background.

Correct, though they do share some notes.

Esencia is very versatile. The musk can be overpowering when reapplied however -- i recommend 5-10 sprays for all-day longevity.

It has now been 2 months since Jeffery's was supposed to order it for me. They keep claiming it is on order, but seriously, does it take 2 months to get this in from spain?

I purchased my bottle Esencia in Burgos, Spain when I was there...... I think you can get it from Amazon and Ebay too... but 2 months seems a long time... Loewe Esencia is easy to obtain in Spain as finding a bottle of the original Polo Green in the USA.

Didn't get very good longevity with the small 8 ml (I think) bottle I had. Pretty good scent.

I've seen shops on Ebay selling them from America for around 60 for the 5.1 oz.

At any price though..well within reason, this is one of the best masculine fragrances I have ever smelled.
