Default SotD: Thursday 16th Feb., 2012

'Twas the 16th of February, and all was quiet on BN.....
    Where is everyone?

A good start to the day for me. I sold a bottle (offsite) within an hour of advertising it. A few more pennies in the jar now for a future purchase.
    Have a wonderful Thursday, all.

Quiet was it in my house today...
Jicky moved in, seemed to settle down and disappeared again.
I can only wear her reasonably/economically with a cotton T-shirt put on while my chest and neck is still wet.
I'm going to the stables late in the afternoon.
    Have a great day all!

Wearing Love Potion No. 9 from the infamous NOLA sample swap. Wow. I remember being first intrigued by this fragrance because Dmitri seemed to love it so much at one point. Spicy, sweet and sexy. And so is LP No. 9
"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins p. 189

    Original Issue
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. How intoxicating?

I'm in a picky mood today. I had to scrub a couple of times before I settled on Joy. It is a little rich for the a.m., but it has the purity I was craving.

    Love to all.

hedonist - whoa, I think I'm getting a whiff of your Absolue over here in Miami! **good stuff**
petruccijc - that is my favorite Memoire Liquide scent that I've tried...although the ML line is a monumental line is a little overwhelming, no?
rtamara - I miss Dimitri LPN9 the feminine or the masculine?

    For me today it's:

    Spicebomb by Viktor & Rolf

Today I wore only 2 sprays, unlike last time when I really overdid it. It actually projects more now - perhaps last time I fatigued my nose?

Another disappointing sample today- Iris Silver Mist. Too thin, too metallic. Not for me. Beginning to think I'm maybe not a Lutens girl. That's o.k. after my happy sampling yesterday- Perfect Veil was simply gorgeous all the way through and the longevity rivaled that of my Chanels.

    Good morning!

I'm in a green cloud of vintage-60s Vent Vert, a few dabs of the parfum and several sprays of edt.

donna - I love Occur and went out of my way to stock up years ago ...so I suppose I really should wear it more often. You smell beautiful!

rtamara - I like that LP No9, too! It reminds me a lot of Dune, which is a top-favorite of mine but especially for warm weather, so I've been meaning to investigate LPN9 more for cooler days.

PerfumedLady - if you love iris then you mustn't give up on ISM quite yet. It is a bit weird at first, but it only took me two wearings to be completely hooked, and I'm definitely not a Lutens-girl.

Welcome back musse - it's nice to see you again!

Evangeline & hedonist, thanks for the tips! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that I find ISM totally unpleasant. It is an iris after all! Would still choose to wear this over lots of other scents. Just might not be one of my favorite irises.

I am, however, loving the drydown! And I do have a lot left in my decant (a spray; may put some in a vial, just to see the differences) to keep trying!

Hope you feel better soon, shades.

Turquoisewater, we've been having a very mild winter, this week it's in the low 30's. I know that seems bad compared to what your used to in CA, but it's nearly tropical to us. I hope you have a great time here.

Went for a quick sampling to a downtown store for the Guerlain Eaux. I do like Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat, but what do I do with my lemon drop association? People are lamenting with this that they can't smell it after 30 minutes, so I wasn't hopeful. Anyway, it was clearly detectable on my wrist (2 spritzes) after an hour to an hour fifteen. Imperiale is gone in 20 minutes on me - too spicy for an Eau for my taste. Eau du Coq I can't do. I immediately saw my grandparents in my mind dabbing from 4711. Yes, they did have it. I recall it from my childhood. No go! Anyway, the SA was quite fond of me and offered me a big sample of Chant d'Aromes, which I gladly accepted. Smells very vintage and Guerlain to me... somehow Parure comes to my mind... not because of the notes, but maybe because of their chypré-ish make-up or treatment? Or no, it is the very soapy quality - as if Guerlain did Patou!

    Hey y'all -

I've mentioned before that it's Mardi Gras season here, and Tony's having fun, but he's sort of freaking out too, lol! He's been here for Mardi Gras day before, but this is his first full season living here and he just can't believe how constant and ubiquitous the festivities are, and tonight's a good example. Three of the best (they're all great, really) of the early parades are rolling tonight - Knights of Babylon, then the Knights of Chaos followed by the Krewe of Muses - they throw highly coveted, beautifully decorated, beaded and bedazzled souvenir shoes ...and I want one!

I'm in Ysatis de Givenchy - its almost decadent opulence feels exactly right for tonight. Have a great evening everyone!
