Good morning! Have a fantastic and fragrant Sunday!
Thread: SotD Sunday, 19 February 2012
Good morning all,
A bit of an exciting one today... I had postponed to work on a stuck stopper on this vintage bottle until this morning. However, after an hour not to much success! Patience is not one of my virtues, so I decided to twist the stopper with zongs (after working the minute gaps between neck and stopper with oil, heating it etc.). It made 'clack' and I thought I goofed it totally now having the top part of the stopper off, but the bottle still closed. Nope, it is now open...
So now I have the Moment Supreme Extrait on one wrist (it's wonderfully preserved, which is rare) and on the other arm two samples whose labels are unreadable (leakage in transit) and were part of 8 or 9 in total. The others I think I have identified, so these two should be Puredistance M (I'm almost 100 % certain) and the other I am pretty sure must be some vintage Sous le Vent EdT. I don't like when leathers take the mentholated smell path, so Puredistance M is not for me. The possibly vintage Sous le Vent is underwhelming as the top notes are expectedly flat.
Enough blabbing... enjoy your Sunday!

Good morning! Have a fantastic and fragrant Sunday!
Well done Larimar! It looks lovely, and you must smell intoxicating. Are you having a cold sunny morning in Austria? It looks like it.
No I am not early. I am late as I have been working all night. (I never did tell you all that I am a vampire, did I?) Well its out now. So, a very non vampy cup o' tea and some toast and the Sunday papers and off to bed with a puff of Bois Des Iles on the way. Cosy.
Enjoy your day, all of you who will be awake throughout it. My scent of the night tonight will be Kyoto I think.
See you all tomorrow.
Morning Hedi. Hope you and your lovely family are well.
Hurrah for L.! Well done, ol' chap.
Sweet dreams, Foustie.
SotD is Mitsouko - vintage parfum. It doesn't always happen, but this was a perfect choice for the day.
Take care, everyone and enjoy your Sunday.
Good morning all - lovely day here.
Well done, Larimar ! (btw Mims and I weren't overly keen on Puredistance M either when we tried it in Harrods)
SotD is Chanel Coromandel.
Happy Birthday volley2
Well, we have woken up to a fresh fall of snow this morning!
Rive Gauche is my SOTD.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone.
A woman without perfume is like a flower without a scent.
Hello all. LUSH Breath of God.
thus far I am sans fragrance as I will be working on my taxes and the thought has sucked the life out of my nose.
However, I am rather inspired by Larimar's boldness with his vintage bottles. Perhaps I require something whip cracking like Tabac Blond.....or something cerebral like vintage Mitsouko - I have an old bottle of extrait that is crouching in the darkness of my perfume cabinet like a sleeping dragon...we shall see.
In any case, I was going to hold off and then reward myself when my work is complete.
p.s. I am seeing a potential new thread...what to wear when calculating income tax, lol!
"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins p. 189
What I am loving right now: Shalimar vintage extrait, Chanel Bois des Iles, Chanel no. 22, Le Labo Iris 39, Guerlain Iris Ganache
Congratulations, Larimar! Glad your patience was rewarded.
SOTD is Creed's heavenly Angelique Encens. It's totally, utterly beautiful.
Wish you all a lovely Sunday!

Good morning everyone!
The rain is gone and the sun is out - hooray! That certainly makes for better Mardi Gras enjoyment, and I plan to enjoy it all in JPG's MaDame. Y'all have a fabulous day ...and laissez les bon temps rouler! I just couldn't leave it out!
Thanks for all the Bon Mardi Gras wishes everyone ...but you know, NOLA is just a plane/car/train-ride away and there's still plenty of time before the big day, so by all means, y'all come on down!
Science is not only compatible with spirituality, it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. ..Carl Sagan
Morning everyone !
Larimar - that bottle looks gorgeous and well done re. the stopper !
You always smell very good Larimar.
Yes, Jon and I were a little disappointed with Puredistance M.
This morning I rolled outta bed and rolled on Child oil. I did some ironing . Spraying on starch on shirts is exactly the smell of L'eau by Uncle Serge . Actually a very lovely fragrance by the ' clean' standard .
Happy Birthday, Volley2!
Jon, thank you for the lovely Grieg and the photos. Norway looks lovely.
Evangeline, laissez les bons temps rouler!
Mimi Gardenia, ironing is a relaxing, meditative task. I enjoy it - when I do it, which is almost never, lol!. If I have to do it in a hurry I don't bother, I just find something else to wear/use.
I'm wearing some No. 19 Poudré from my sample, but it's almost gone now. I like it very much but I don't think I'll want a bottle unless it comes in a very small size.
It is starting to snow here. Looks a bit sleety - the sloppy slidey dangerous stuff. We're staying in.
Happy birthday Volley !! On Tapatalk ....... Have a great day .
good morning. happy birthday volley! Larimar, great bottle. Foustie, Sweet Dreams.

Hi all. Hypnotic Poison Elixir for the evening. Need to do a compare and contrast with the edt at some point, but so far they seem indistinguishable.
Wow you all smell like I imagine heaven will! Very apt for a Sunday.
SotD was Hypnotic Poison from a quick spray whilst out "window shopping". Smells like a Christmas cake iced with Play-doh! Nice!
SotE is Eau de decant which on this occasion is a mix of all my chypres.... Very very lovely mash up indeed
Cracking bottle L
from a decant
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."
